I have come across a large group of photographs from the 50s most set in Barnoldswick All local people I think. Does anybody know anything about this club. I shall try to post some on the picture board

I'm pleased to have attracted a response to the Myra and Tony recall. Sorry to hear that Myra is no longer with us. Yes Seren, I remember all those names except Ronnie Bowker. Jim Holmes I particularly remember both at Watsons Garage and at the Anchor at Salterforth. Always good for a laugh Jim. Does anyone remember Jack Bailey? Not a member I think but a character nontheless. Lived either around Standing Stone Gate or towards Blacko and worked at one time at Jimmy Tattersalls garage at Gisburn. Jimmy Tat had an Inter Norton and Jack occasionally took it home. One morning, late for work, he was reputed to have taken short cut to work via Gisburn Old Road and Coal Pit Lane, and that on an Inter in the conditions the route was in in the early 50s Enough for now, perhaps more later.

Hi Seran, Yes, Myra was a Wild. I believe she was Albert's sister. Peter and Mrs W did live on Rainhall Rd at the corner of Fountain St. Joe lived with them and was Polish. When I was around Clem Armstrong didn't live there but I remember him coming for tea once a week. Something to do with late night working at Steele's. Must stop this gossiping!

Was Pete's mum called Winnie? it rings a bell with me, however Pete and his mum lived for a while with Clem and Alice Armstrong on Rainhall Rd at the junction with Fountain St, this was in the forties. Clem and Alice were my Godparents.

Yes Dad lived on Harrison St,worked at Watsons for many years before moving on to a private garage in Burnley.Left Barlick for a new life in Dorset and achieved his dream of having his own boat.

JGH
It was good to hear about Jim. He used to keep us entertained in the Anchor at Salterforth with his stories of his time in the Royal Navy. After some years of deferment the powers that be caught up with me for National Service and I spent 2 years in the Navy, 1 of them based in Malta, but we never had the fun that Jim did. I'm pleased to hear that he eventually got his own boat!
