I've been thinking of starting this topic for a while. Let's see how it goes....
Asked if he was in charge of the nation, in the absence of the Prime Minister - Mr Clegg told Metro: ‘Yeah, I suppose I am. I forgot about that.’

The managing director of Marks & Spencer has been explaining his company's latest financial results. The Food sector did well but the Clothing and Household goods less so. However he said that the results "were boosted by amazingly successful sales of Brazilian knickers". I must admit to be being a bit out of touch and I'm wondering whether this is a form of undergarment for ladies or a euphemism with which I am as yet unaccustomed.

Edible perhaps ....?
I have to say, that I've never understood that concept......
Presumably if they came in agreeable flavours , you'd want to eat them before they were worn , which slightly defeats the object .....
Alternatively devouring them in situ must carry a certain risk from the unexpected release of tight elastic.....Ouch !
(Peter started it Matron....Honest !)

I refuse to make the obvious connections between depilation and gusset width..... (But it's tempting!)

The research I have to do for the edification of OGFB members...the Guardian's page on the M&S results goes like this: "The company said a three-for-£10 deal had helped it shift 460,000 pairs of the low-cut underwear, which is said to boast the invisibility of a thong but with greater support. The jump in sales comes after M&S poached Brazilian Victoria's Secret model Ana Beatriz Barros to become the face of its lingerie collection." My first thought on reading this was that they meant Ms Barros had "become the *bottom* of its lingerie collection". I wonder how they achieved the "greater support"? Another triumph for Kevlar perhaps?
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so the obvious place to look is the Daily Mail...and they haven't let us down, see this page. And don't miss the great Pugh cartoon too!

"I never had one inappropraite conversation ".....Cameron answering Dennis
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-14224160
We are expected to believe that in 26 acknowledged meetings with N I executives , numerous social events and probably dozens of phone calls (as yet the number is unspecified), the subject of the SskyB bid was NEVER discussed......
It's insulting !

Bradders: that isn't what was said.
"no inappropriate" means that discussions may have occured but they had no effect upon the decision process

If you think the ministerial code has been broken you can write and get it investigated. You will probably need to write to the Cabinet Office
http://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/
and you will note that you should be able to do it online.
Where possible I'd also include the MP, because I have found Mr Stephenson to be quite good (so far) in answering and he has asked a question for me in the house in the past.

This ,from the report by the BBC on the sacking of Tom Nixon of The Sun...
"The management and standards committee of News Corporation, the parent company of News International, confirmed it had "terminated the contract of a member of staff in relation to his previous work"....
...is my "Quote of the Day".......
