Today Bob and I had reason to go to Anglesey on business. On the way there we stopped at Abakhan, a fabric and crafts warehouse. It is one of the few places where i can buy material for dressmaking and these days I have a grandaughter to make for! ( By the way did I say we are expecting another grandchild in November. Eve will have a sister or brother)

Anyway back to my story. We were browsing the shelves when we noticed agroup of, what looked like students browsing also. Some had dress patterns in their hand, some had photographs /drawings of gowns, others had nothing. We decided they were students of Textile and Design. It didn't take us long to see who would pass the course with distinction and who would struggle to pass at all.

One girl picked up some pieces of foam out of a box and said 'What are these'.

'Shoulder pads'  said another.
'
Oh I thought they were for bras' said the first.

(It was this girl who looked very disinterested and had no pattern)

I had to laugh at the situation. especially as I imagined this alternative use.

Perhaps the foam was for those knee protectors that plumbers wear!

Does anyone remember the film clip from Olivia Newton John's song of "Lets Get Physical" where they wore those cosy lower leg warmers.  I remember wearing them decades ago.
That's what I want them to bring back.  I had a snazzy pair of pink ones....

Just spent an hour trawling youtube for Olivia Newton-John in Legwarmers to no avail, There are dozens of her singing 'Lets get Physical' but I couldn't find one with her wearing Leg warmers. Frown

O-N-J was something of a fascination for me in my younger days

I did once have hormones........
