It snowed in Barlick at 20:00 last night. Cold enough for it to be still lying on roofs and grass this morning. Glass steady at 28.5", broken cloud and very little wind.
Have altered title. I'll start a new one at the end of the month.

Just back from the morning's walk. A bitter North wind is bringing in flurries of hard snow that sting your face and ears. Definitely not pensioner's weather! If you're on the road today be careful and the best of luck!

Had to go to Colne then Nelson at 8.45. Gisburn Rd was like shot ice with compacted hail.
Got onto M65 towards Colne and all drivers in inside lane doing 35 max......that is apart from a woman doing 70 in the outside lane with a thin spare wheel on her nearside rear .....WITH A MOBILE PHONE STUCK TO HER EAR. How stupid can you get. Nolic

There are always the invincible, Nolic. They're convinced it'll never happen to them.
I'm indoors in the warm today, had a brief excursion to Skipton but am now back indoors by the fire

Like the stove! I am Getting good sensible advice from Deadly who is a stove installer and sweep.
Maz says to keep the winter pics going, they cool her down as she sweats in the high 30Cs.

Glass rock solid at 28.5", light northerly breeze in the back street. Damp and cold but not freezing, very close but no ice.

Not sure whether we've been "drilled ,slotted, punched ,bored or countersunk" today...Had warm sun on my back this morning , leaden sky , wind and calm again , rain ....then sleet, and now it's just plain nasty !..and the sea was BIG !

Nasty day on the whole here but with occasional bright spells. Went up Letcliffe in one of these and the high moors to the North and east are covered with snow above about a 1000 feet. Despite reported highs of 5C paths icy on Letcliffe and snow still on roof at home.
Glass steady on 28.5" can't really see any change. Cold rain last night but not raining at the moment.

I think I was in the best place on Monday - in bed - seem to have been struck down with a 24hour something or other but am OK now. I hate this wind and sleet, we had thunder in the middle of the night which woke us up.

Got two dryish but cold walks in, Letcliffe was definitely bracing! In the afternoon we had spells dark enough to trigger the street lights with hail and sleet. Then a brightish spell. You're right Moh, I slept warm and snug for my two hours in the afternoon!
Glass has risen to 28.9", flags were dry but there are spatters of cold rain. Yesterday's strong wind has dropped but we are promised gales. Red alerts for inland wind in central and SW Scotland, doubtless we will get some of that as well.

Jack and I are just back from an abbreviated walk. Full wet weather gear, wellies, leggings, Barbour and Sowester. Strong NW wind, heavy cold rain, sodden underfooit. In short a nasty horrible morning. Jack is empty and dried off, I am recovering! This is definitely traditional November weather. I pity anyone having to work outside today.

When I was in Derby , Janet and I inslalled a Franco Belge (brown enamel) stove in each of the last two houses we lived in ..... Expensive but very well made and very efficient...not sure about the "smoke wash " facility though ....the glass still went black and had to be cleaned after a while.....
Actually I miss them more than ...(no I won't say it !)
It fair blowin a gale (rain in it too) out side and I had thought of going to look at the sea , but on second thoughs , I'm stopping in by the fire....
I've finally convinced Mum that a Stove would be a good idea ...so watching this tread with interest.....
Can't imagine why she won't have one like my friend Arthur ,in Wells... Made for them out of a gas cylinder by a mate he calls "The Bodger " ....about £100 !....It reminds me of a "Henry " !
