wow thanks moh, ive been working on it a bit more, hopefully i will post another update tomorrow. the lady whos commissioned it is coming on monday, so id like to have it finished by then, but she wont be taking it as she has another dog to be done and i am going to have them mounted together

Brilliant, David is right, best I have seen you do. I love the nose, if you look at a dog carefully they all have that crackle finish.

Very accurate drawings. Notice the small hammer the man is using to crack the rocks, this is a genuine knapping hammer that was used to crack stones down to pigeon egg size for road repairs. Exactly what the old Barlickers would have been using at Poor Bones.

urgh the hanging man just made me shiver, my mums cousins husband commited suicide last year by hanging himself in the woods. and can you imagine having to chip all those stones!!! what a job!!! no thanks... its bad enough chopping the firewood for our fire but i like the drawings, arnt they about 200 years old?

They were hard times Conor and the interesting thing is that Bewick was making social atatemenrts about the poor and disadvantaged in a book about birds. Good site Comrade.

the blind old begger reminds me a bit of the' scream' the face, the gruel couldnt of been very tasty!!
if an artist was to draw what its like now.... would it be hooded teenagers hanging about street corners cars burnt out, drawings of people spaced out on crack, or big issue sellers on the street with their dogs curled on blankets, or a drawing of a child on its own frightened and crying hiding from its abuser, buskers playing their guitars with their tin on the floor. or a lonely old lady sat in her home wrapped in a blanket with one bar on the electric fire. its sad that although we have advanced in so many ways deprivation is still everywhere.

Wow deep thoughts, and you have missed very little out. It summarises quite a lot of our bad society. But don't forget about the nice bits like allotment girl tending her veg, watching the sun go down on a nice day, or a family on the beach at Blackpool.

haha oh i doubt it, but if it was to happen i can blame it all on our stanley, keep putting ideas in my head. LOL i quite like the idea of painting all of the above in oils.
i have been asked if i exibit my work. but as you all know i dont as i sell everything ive done or its for exams. but maybe i should start to do things for myself, but the want for a car is too strong. but its a great idea...... and i do have a new canvas!!!

Mayhew was a reporter on the same paper that Reach worked for and what started the enquiry off was the prevalence of cholera. Reach's bokks are in Rare Texts on the site and due to me transcribing them they were re-published because all the hard work had been done. Conor, keep your eyes open for a bloke called Dore as well. Ask at the library.

heres an update of the collie drawing, ive still got some to do on it, but im hoping i will finish it tomorrow, ive just edited as ive decided that im going to push the darks on this, ive started and its already looking better, i feel alot happier with it now,
