Handy to know, thanks. I believe they serve up a grand meal at Banny's, though I've never been myself.

However, since I quit the evil weed the pounds have piled on and I'm now trying to eat really sensibly, as well as wheezing ... sorry, jogging ... around Letcliffe Park of a morning.

Once I've shed the excess baggage I'll be able to treat myself again.

I've just had fish, chips and peas from the chippy down Gisburn Road. Very tasty but you can't beat having it served to your table. Banny's is a fairly regular treat...

Will they send fish & chips down to Somerset? By the way, if you are ever in Glastonbury go to Knight's fish & chip cafe, it's renowned for its food.

Ww have a favourite chippy. In fact it has the best fish and chips I have ever had.

It is a long way from Barlick, but only about 20miles from here. It is in Wetwang.

There is nearly always a queue, and I think that is because they do not fry fish in bulk and then keep it up above the fryer until a customer come along. They ask each customer as he comes in  what the wants and then put it in the fryer. Then when the customer has worked his way to the head of the queue his fish and chips are just coming out  of the fryer.

Every silver lining has a cloud.

Two houses, a post office and a horse trough (and a chip shop) near Driffield East Yorkshire. 80 miles or so from Barlick.

Personally I favour Church St (I love fish scones and they're the only one I know of in Barlick that still does them)

I went through Wetwang on my way to Bridlington. I believe it's famous for Richard Whitely (of Countdown fame) being born there.

One of the best in the area is supposed to be down Scotland Road in Nelson - opposite Oddies shop. I have not tried them but they have won awards for their fish & chips - it is traditional and does not sell all the other things chippies have begun selling. Richard Whitely said he was the Mayor of Wetwang, we used to go through there sometimes when we had our caravan at Stamford Bridge. (Yorkshire not Chelsea!!)

It is also famous for a cousin of mine who lives there. She is famous for being the worlds least known celebrity.

I was doubtful of the wisdom of revealing this because it could well now influence her celebrity standing.

We go through Wetwang every year, not sure if we have had the fish and chips but we have had quite a few along the route in our 10 years of going to Brid. We have so many great fish and chip shops here, we may not have notced Wetwangs superior taste, don't they have a Scarecrow festival there too or is that further on? Moh, Stamford Bridge, so famous and so forgotten, changed the course of British history!
