I love painting and am a local amateur painter have got an N.V.Q. Level 4. I sell locally but not recently. I work as an Art technican, which involves allsorts really! I think more should be done in schools as painting is a good way of helping children communicate and deal with stress, adults too !

I've just seen a trailer for the new film, "Miss Potter" about the life of Beatrix. She was a very skilled watercolourist and the film appears to reflect that with some wonderful animations of her creations. It might be a good DVD for a cold, wet Sunday evening. Nolic

Tom, i think you have a lot of basic knowledge of art to do a sketch like that, and a love of buildings too. People have told me to draw what you love and this i find to be true
Moh, try it, just play around with whatever art material you have to hand house paint and lining paer will do, you will be suprised what you can come up with! That goes as well to anyone who thinks they cant do it, its expression and concentration plus visualization which we all posess. Prove me right and show your stuff on here! |

Tom, have a look at this site . This guy likes canal and industrial scenes which might be up your street and has some demonstrations which you can follow.

I still have my Dad's water colours and pads - but cannot raise the interest - geneology takes all my spare time

Flutterby, i have been painting for years, and I occassionaly teach it..i think you are right that anyone can do it, with some encouragement and enthusiasm. Have only put an early sketch of an engine on here but, encouraged by you I will try to insert a pic of some of my art on this topic...i am so bad at this I usually have to resort to getting Stanley to do it for me....just a little P.S and please don't take this the wrong way, but Gloria used my Avatar when she first came on to the site, which made me feel a bit confused when looking for my posts, she was kind enough to change to another one, which took her some time to find...unfortunately you have chosen the same one...now she may be perfectly ok with this, but it might be nice if you could pick one that is exclusive to you as it saves confusion by old buffers like me who tend to look at the pics before the name!
No even my pc intimate teens don't know how to put a pic in this topic so I shall have to try summat else!

Can I ask what other arty or crafty things everyone likes doing. I make cards and I absolutely love it. This is my form of stress relief and means of switching off from the world.
