Anyone know if there is a list of organisations within Barnoldswick that want to attract volunteers to help in their projects?
Maybe if there's enough this topic could be a resource.

I am told most information in Barnoldwick travels via the grapevine or a poster in the chippy , rather than the internet.
Couple of organisations that come to mind. Barnoldswick FC ( want people to assist painting a, etc nd bringing the ground up to scratch for application to move into a higher division ). Garden Gate - to assist disabled and others in community gardens along with Barnoldswick in Bloom.

When I was in Todmorden with Sue talking about Lulu to UA3 last year I noted the free vegetable plots maintained by volunteers on the canal side and the fact that anyone could take the produce. I heard a piece on R4 yesterday about the project and it is still going strong. Plenty of scope in Barlick for a similar project. The croft where the toilets are on Letcliffe were allotments during the war, how about some space on the old sidings? Todmorden only slightly bigger than Barlick, could we do the same thing?

Thanks too to the Charity Shop volunteers and sorters , difficult to do , getting a balance of fair price to charity and putting up with some of the dross and waste that can get 'donated' by unthinking or uncaring people ( I am sure does not happen in Barnoldswick). Only have actually three and a bit charity shops in Town , Pendle Hospice ( Good to Support as never know when you might need it ) , B&E now less easy to find in their site on the far side of the Square , Book and CD Table for ?Scope? in the Co-Op , and AgeUK. Also I had forgotten about the odd unit next to the pensioners club which I am told is avalible for local / community charity sale use on a week by week basis.
Ideal places to keep me supplied with odd sized Picture Frames and the odd VHS Video , Old Vinal and Cassette Tapes. For furnishings YMCA down in Colne seems to get some quality stuff in , ( and as of this morning a nice Viners 24 piece china service complete and boxed for a fiver - the soup bowls were too big for my tiny kitchen cupboards ).
Dont forget you can also volunteer as a special constable - they are often needed to help out around sporting events and you need to attend regular training,

Got mail from an old mate Down Under this morning and he says they have raised beds full of free veggies in front of Perth City Hall. This movement is spreading.....
