Greetings,

My son Steve and I expect to roll into Barnoldswick on the bus from Manchester around April 7.  Some of our ancestors, the Hargreaves' and the Wellocks' left Barlick for Canada around 1880 and later settled in Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron.  Are these names still common in the area?  Are any long lost relatives reading this?  Please email us at k8dxx@sbcglobal.net.  Thank you!  Bill Roberts

there are still wellocks in the area, the potato people from Trawden are Wellocks and I think the man who owns Boltons decorators is a wellock. He drives a BMW 645i and a BMW X5 so there might be money in the family.

There were also Wellocks in Barrowford - Maurice, brother Jack and their sister Jenny. Tom Hall lives in America and his mother was Jenny Wellock (married a Catlow). Maurice had a son Brian who is a drama teacher in the Nelson area and has been responsible for the TV acting careers of many notable youngsters from Nelson, amongst them is John Sim (Life on Mars etc,)  Tom's email is: http://tomhallwelding@yahoo.com
