I went up Letcliffe today in the sunshine with the birds singing and only a light breeze from the NW to spoil things so I decided you were right and it's probably about time we started to be optimistic.  However.....  have you seen the forecast for Easter?

I am enjoying this hot weather - sat out on the patio with neighbours until after 11pm last night - it was such a nice change.

Jack and I had our walk up letcliffe, lovely conditions but very humid.  One sausage, one egg and a full tin of baked beans for breakfast.  Fuelled for the day!

Not sure about the sausage Stanley - thinking fats and fillers - but the rest is good and wholesome.

This morning was our coldest for 25yrs, just .07C (what was I doing 25yrs ago - just a thought) and  'apparently'  it reached 14C today.  4C tonight, 14C again for Tuesday and showers.  This is damn cold for us.  Brrrr...

Windows were frosted over yesterday morning....though my feet are colder today than they were yesterday for some reason. Perhaps I should dig out my Ug Boots.

I think you need a wood-burner Maz.....

Tuesday dawned late with a leaden sky.  It started raining steadily with big drops at 05:45 as I took Jack out for a walk.  It's darker and raining more heavily now than it was 30 minutes ago.  Lovely for the trees and gardens and could be a good fall.  No thunder as yet.

when and where did the airline , "Quantas"  admit to corrosion?
suggestion that an oxygen bottle exploded does not make much sense either since the reasoning is that a bottle was missing. What if the skin failed and the missing bottle simply fell out?
How did this get into this topic?

I believe the aircraft had it's big 'C' check in March this year, Herb.
I've read that corrosion was found....I have actually thrown the papers out now or I would be happy to quote from them (tho who would trust a newspaper editorial?)
And I can't see that it was an O2 bottle either. Oxygen is extremely combustible and woud have exploded from the static caused as the skin ripped off....there didn't appear to be any sign of burning in the pics I saw.
Another Q jet had to make an emergency landing yesterday because the landing gear doors failed to latch....but that is not considered an emergency really...this is a minor thing.
I'm just a nervous traveller Herb....I watch too many Airline Disaster shows. They are not good for me. I get really upset when people die because a bolt snapped somewhere! I'm all for making the Airlines more accountable, though I hasten to add that the sensible part of my grey matter accepts that air travel is extremely safe (on the whole).

They mentioned on the news today that maintenance for Qantas aircraft is being done off-shore, this is apparently a new thing, bring it back to Oz I say - they used to have an unblemished record.

I actually glanced in the recycling bin today and see there are some newspapers way down the bottom there....perhaps I'll have a hunt thru in the morning. (keeping in mind of course, that EVERYTHING at this stage is speculation....it is going to take months to get to the bottom of this.) And in answer to your question Herb about Qantas admitting corrosion....I'm not 100% sure THEY did....gosh....I need to retrieve those papers in the morning!

Don't bother Maz.  Quantas didn't admit to anything.  CASA found no corrosion but a piece of the missing O2 bottle was found in the plane.  Almost certain it exploded but they are going to make sure.  All Quantas O2 bottles have been inspected but no news of findings.  It's beginning to look like a freak happening and what a tribute to the strength of the structure.

Harr is in here in Aberdeen, it makes it awful Cold & Very Very Damp.

On the Quantas issue,  we flew back from Zambia in 1976 to Frankfurt on Lufthansa. We changed to a Quantas 747 which had been having Maintenance carried out by Lufthansa. Only 8 passengers + the crew for the flight to London. So they had the maintenance off shore way back then  !!!!!!!!

We had very heavy showers after 17:00 last night and there are plenty of black thunderheads floating over this morning.  We haven't seen the end of the heavy showers.  Wild looking sky when they come, lovely.  I do like mobile weather ststems.
