Stanley, it's listed on Amazon, published 1927, but currently unavailable. Must be a small book, only 31 pages. I wonder if in years to come, my books will be collectors items, hehe.

You'll have the same problem that I have. Books on the shelf worth thousands if you went to buy them but hundreds if you want to sell!

Allready got it Stanley, paid £25 for it some years ago.
I must be losing it a bit, that "Life of a Steeplejack" isn't a book, it's a article from Wide World Magazine, which i also have, i just forgot about it.

I bought a book for $10 in NY many years ago, sold it when I was hard up and then decided I wanted it again. Guess what, it cost me £130. I keep telling my kids to look very carefully at my books when I die. I am a man of wealth and position in the community!

I made a list of all my books and for each book a comment concerning its value or the amount I bought the book for. But who will buy all the English books the oldest dating from 1872.

Walter , Don't sell them ! .....
I have a little book that I bought on the day I sang a solo in Ripon Cathedral . (1961/2) ....It is leather bound in red , with gold lettering and has the word "Souvenir" on the outside.
Inside it has marbled paper for the front sheets and contains hand written poems and other personal messages to the owner.....
There is even a page with embroidered flowers , and it is the same on both sides ( you cannot see the ends of the threads !)
The first entry is dated "the 24th of March 1814 "........
The book expert at Bamfords in Derby ( for whom I am also an advisor) told me that it would probably sell at auction for £30.
It's going Nowhere !

I'll just add to that post......I was in Rishworth School Choir at the time , so it wasn't Blues wot I sang !......(although I used to get told off for syncopating , quite often)
The little book is just the same size as the autograph books we had at the time , and it cost me 10/6d.
The bloke who ran the shop wanted nearly £1 , but took pity on me (but it was still a lot of money at the time)....
The hand writing is ,in most parts , stunning. There are also some entries that are very hard to decypher , but non the less stylish and neat.....
All with quill pens ....Lovely !

Big market for old books Walter but booksellers can only offer about a third of what they are worth and they aren't making a fortune. Best way to get money's worth out of them is to read them all again!

Got these photos from a lady called Betty Housham,its west Burton power station 1966/67,its her step father James Gilmour from Glasgow who worked for Babcox ,they built the 2 concrete chimneys.

The Coolers at Willington were still standing the last time I passed ....
There are East of Burton of course , towards Derby .....
The site was almost completely cleared apart from them...I guess they'll have to come down sometime soon , if they haven't already.
Get a quote in !....?
