The score line doesn't do it justice

Ah but do we know if it was a true reflection on the skills of the players ??

Amusing piece on the morning TV news show showing a reporter outside Downing Street and a rat behind him scurrying past the door of No. 10.

Catgate, I was reffering to your reply to my post on the previous page on 12-01.  I think that they are entitled to make a public spectacle when one of them is killed in the line of duty, there are certainly many out there who make a public outcry when they do something THEY don't agree with.  I am not sure if how to take your post, are you anti police?

My comment on the post to which you apparently refer was intended to reflect the idea that no one who drives a vehicle of any sort knows if they will get home for tea...be they policeman, fireman, double glasing salesman or whatever. The reference to his marital status is one of those "underlining" comments that are always made to make the situation more tragic and therefore more sympathy-worthy. If he had not been married there would undoubtedly have been something like "and if he had been a family man this situation could have been much more tragic".

Am I ani-police? Well  I would not say I was "anti" but I would question many of the things in which they are inviolved and the way they are slowly becoming clones of the American Cops.    They have gradually gone from being British bobbies to shaven headed thugs if what is shown on TV documentaries is typical.  Their organisation seems to be virtually autonamous,  ruled over only by ACPO Ltd.

They are let down enormously by the judiciary and the politicians when it coms to  the punishment of criminals. The main aim of the politician seems to be to reap a constant cash harvest of small fines for petty crimes whilst avoiding dishing out long term harsh punishment to deter further crimes. It has been noticable how many of these petty crimes were "invented" by the last stint of left wing goverment.

Every silver lining has a cloud.

" Was the Rat going in or "Leaving a Sinking Ship" ??"

It was on its way out and heard to be saying "We're all in it together? Speak for yourself mate!"

Can't think who the "rat" was, but I have a good idea. Can't say on here though.

Nolic ...Nothing concentrates the mind quite like a stiff !

Actually ......Paddy's is relatively new , so the incumbents of the crypt might   be quite recent....or was it built on a much older site  ?

(not being disrespectful here..... )  either way ,it's an odd location for an exam  !

Comrade, probably the quietest low cost venue they could find?

The search for the perfect ant-ageing cream is over according to Waitrose customers. The cheap own-brand Baby Bottom Butter for protection against nappy rash is selling quicker than they can make it. Go for it Lads!

Brad, I once had a classic case of Barber's Rash. If you've never seen it, the top layer of your skin falls off, nasty. A cream made for nappy rash was just the ticket. Anything approved for babies is very mild and pure. Go for it!

The word on the street is that two people have been arrested in connection with the affray on the Railway pub corner last Friday night. I see that the ConDems hav set the minimum price of alcohol. Every commentator I've seen says that it's too low and useless. Should have been 50p not 38. Estimates are that at 50p there would be a 10% reduction in consumption. All it does is stop supermarkets selling below cost. Any guesses who lobbied against a higher price?

I listened carefully to what Lord Chilcot said in response to Cabinet Office refusal to allow publication of the Bush/Blair papers. (Always as well to analyse what a civil service mandarin says, they speak accurately but in code) He said that he regretted the refusal because it would be difficult for them to show a clear evidential base for any comments or conclusions they might come to. In other words, they have enough evidence out in the open to make comments and come to a conclusion. Blair is not off the hook. Friday will be excruciating but interesting.

Me I am a 64 year old male who can decide how much I wish to Drink and When. Because the Police/ Goverment can't control the streets on a Saturday Night, Everyone has to carry the Can ( pun). Only the Control Freaks will welcome this.
What next ?? You have to walk a mile a day or we will withdraw your right to NHS Services ?? Wedge and thin end spring to mind !!!

But Frank the minimum price is so low that it won't affect how much you pay for your alcohol - unless you prefer to drink the ultra-cheap rubbish that some places are selling and kids are buying. In fact it's so low that it probably won't affect how much the kids pay either. But if you are a lover of ultra-cheap booze surely you wouldn't mind paying a more normal price so that fewer kids will poison themselves?
