I went up Letcliffe today in the sunshine with the birds singing and only a light breeze from the NW to spoil things so I decided you were right and it's probably about time we started to be optimistic.  However.....  have you seen the forecast for Easter?

Would a noise actuated recorder and a sound log plus a note from your doctor be a good place to start?  We are so lucky in East Hill street as the front is all gardens, no road.  Very economical of space and obviously less chance of noise.  The back street is a dead end as well so no through traffic.  Wonderful little bit of town planning.  Another ploy might be a small low powered fan or a couple of strategically placed ventilators that would allow fresh air and baffle noise out.  I have my bed under the wondow and the window locked open a crack.  This plus the fact I have an open fire downstairs and good draught-proofing means that there is a constant gentle flow of air falling across the bed, wending it's way down the stairs and being drawn into the front room and up the flue by the natural tempereture differential between the house interior and the outside air.  Works like a charm.  A ventilator in the ceiling into the roof space would drop fresh air into the room.....  You could even pipe it directly through the roof into the open air, rather like a CH boiler flue.  Well worth the effort I should think.

Move to Norfolk Sir for peace and quiet. I woke up last night as a hedgehog tiptoed across my lawn. No, that is not a euphemism for anything else either. Well ok then, I'm not sure why I woke but there is comparatively little noise here.

Muggy though today.

But you have no hills Jules.....  Angry red sunrise out of overcast sky here and now it is raining.  Summer is still delayed!  Funny thing is the glass is up and still rising.

Our none summer is getting beyond a joke.  Just stopped drizzling in Barlick and the temperature has managed to struggle to just about 54F.  Good job that farmers no longer rely on haytime because this would have been a terrible season for them.  Got mail from Maz yesterday about her visit in August.  I hope she and David mange to smuggle in some good weather for our sake as well as theirs.  I wonder how Frank is going on as he tin-tents on the Bonny, Bonny Banks O' Loch Lomond.......?  Ringo and family are hopefully getting better weather in France.

STOP PRESS - my husband has just been speaking to a work colleague, a building contractor who has a job on the go in Ireland and this men have been rained off for days.  The contractor has now been told to get his men over on Sunday evening as there is a HIGH coming in and it will last ALL WEEK.  Is it too much to expect a bit of it to drift over us?

(Sorry for the shouting capitals but I am quite excited !!)
