Oh what a great weekend i've had up on the tops above Haworth...life doesn't get any better than new grass, and cold sunny breezes, blue skies and curlews calling, the laughter of tiny streams by the pathway, and acres and acres of land spread below you.

Nice one belle,
We don't seem to have many Curlews up here, maybe the Buzzards are having them because we have no shortage of Buzzards. At the moment Buzzards seem to be everywere on Telegraph poles and Fencing by the road side. I wonder if road kill is making it easier for them to feed and hence survive.

Any sign of Heathcliffe, Belle? (personally I would be watching for the Ian McShane version).

My mind always flies to the skit where Heathcliffe is running towards Kathy on the moor and they go right past each other. Dave Allen?

I knew a lady in Hebden Bridge who described a windy walk on the moors as 'gong for a good wuther'. Nice.....

I'm fond of a wuther myself, even when it's nithering, but the best type of all wuthers are those by the sea which involve spume!

You've just reminded me of that song that Terry Wogan used to play, recorded by the bloke who was Uboat captain during the war. 'There is a lighthouse across the bay, obscured by spume und spray'
Have a look at this video:

I've just listened to it again, I'd fogotten 'stair gazing'. Well worth a listen.
My favourite walk must be up to Letcliffe Park. Best aerobic work out in Barlick, 3 miles there and back and you climb over 200ft in the last quarter of a mile. I'm convinced that this walk keeps me straight!

And when you get up there you can always sit and soak up the views.

A great walk over Weets this morning. We park the car in Letcliffe then head up Lister Well Road, Gisburn Old Track and back over Weets. Glorious sunshine, skylarks singing away and wonderful (if slightly hazy) views in all directions. The dog loves the walk too as he can be off the lead for most of the way.

Did you check the cloughs out Wendy for the farmer's fences?
