Questions about this subject keep cropping up amid closely related topics, so I thought it may be a good idea to expand on the subject. I will not go on about my qualifications to discuss Canal Boats so lets just give it a go and see what transpires.

...indeed!

However, shortly after my last post, a hand-delivered - yes, hand-delivered - solicitor's letter was popped through the door confirming that we have definitely exchanged contracts and Thursday 20 December is The Big Day for completion.

I'm now in overdrive - utilities have to be informed, change of address details sent to insurance/bank/vet etc etc. I can do a lot online but still need to get all the relevant details together.

More stuff taken to tip/up to Ma's loft/foisted upon unsuspecting visitors.

BK - fortunately the telly has got installed at Mum's so we don't need your brawn and brains there now, but there's still the mirror swap and the Windows manual stuff. The reason I haven't called you is that your number was saved in our phone, which is now buried under several tons of rubbish at the dump. A sensible person would obviously have made a note of all the address book contents BEFORE jumping on it during my Destruction Therapy class but there you go.

Oooh - Rydian's just put in a superb performance on the X factor.  I bet he wins.

Off Topic again, Cally!Go to Top of Page

Calluna ....  Hi, All My Best for your New Adventure.  You're adrenalin, and excitement will keep you going   Keep a note-book / file,  where you put everything in,  related to the move.  If it happens that you forgot to do something, it will be in there, and can be caught up with.  Having recently moved, I know something of what you are going thru, (and identified with your emotives).  I look forward to hearing about it all.  Enjoy ...  breathe, breathe  Cheers

All thru the fields and meadows gay  ....  Enjoy

Hope all goes well with the move.

I thoroughly agree with Cathy re the note book. I am somewhat of a list addict myself. Most of my lists start out:

1. Make a list of what needs doing about .....
2. Find list book
3. Find list book pen

Moh - you're right - and probably well into the New Year too! As for postal address, it will be c/o my mum's. We couldn't have made the move had it not been for my mum's loft and local address!

Stanley - I was multi-tasking. Laptop on my knees downstairs instead of being huddled away in my office. And I can't believe that Leon won! Something dodgy there.

Lists: yes - we're great list makers, and the packing boxes all started off being labelled with their contents, though that discipline has slipped a bit as we start getting more and more manic.

The reason I'm on here now is that I'm about to disconnect my big computer and pack it up. I was going to sell it but decided it would be sensible to have an alternative means of working in case I can't use the laptop on the boat at any time. If so, I'd just nip down to my mum's and fire up the big one.

Thanks for all your good wishes - we'll need them! Go to Top of Page

Can you hear it!  Im playing Benny Goodman "Sing, Sing, Sing" proper manic jungle music and quite apt for your move Cally, full steam ahead. My sister Jenny and her partner Ted use Teds sister in Sheffield as their postal address, she forwards anything on that looks important to where they happen to be at any one time by arrangement via mobile phone etc.. The are quite nomadic especially in the summer. What a life! My sis downsized from a 17 bedroom hotel to "Conway No 2", Talk about fitting a quart in a pint pot. All the best again for your future adventures in "Waterworld" enjoy......

It's typical E&H when you think about it.....  How many people would even consider a complete change of lifestyle and a flitting in the week before Christmas.  Verging on masochistic never mind manic Panny!  As for lists [and I did a lot when I was doing Ellenroad] , my problem is I cheat, I write down everything including the things I've already done and then start by crossing them off!  Instant progress which makes you feel a lot better.  I'll bet someone else out there has done that.
