As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

haha stanley i thought that was a mith!!!! so its true... you do lose them!!! LOL

ive just noticed something else wrong with the photo ive uploaded, the right eye is out of focus, but thats the camera not the drawing, i cant wait to get it framed now, mum said she will fork out the £52 to get it done, good ole mum. but im feeling guilty as its costing my parents alot of money for the team kit i HAVE to have for sheffield, i cant wait to earn some for myself.

the English School Championships is going to be on the TV on saturday 11th july on BSKYB channel, i will be in the AVON team, all in light blue, im 6ft 5 with longish blonde hair so you wont miss me!! i will be doing discus at 12.30 on saturday, its on the TV for 5 hours of live coverage from aprox 1pm, and my name isnt really conty!!! haha its Conor Farr, just in case you get to watch it.

Conor, you'd be surprised what drops off as you get older.....

Best of luck with the discus but don't strain anything you need for drawing!!!

Just caught up with this after losing my computer - that baby drawing is magnificent - what a talent - many parents would pay good money for one of their baby,

He's quite special isn't he. Isn't it lovely to have fresh, vibrant young people about like that. Stay with us Conor, we need you to remind us of what youth should be all about!

Funny that. I have never felt old or even adult! I look like an old fart from the outside but inside looking out I am still the young lad who made all those mistakes 60 years ago. (I still make some of them now) We force young people to grow up more quickly these days and it is not necessarilky a good thing. Resist the injunction to 'grow up', it's a mistake.

I agree Stanley - the body is getting old but not in the head. (Don't know the elderly lady I see when I look in the morror - looks like my mum!!)

Stanley's going to publish his memoirs soon. How about Conor drawing a picture of him to go in the book. Send her a photo Stanley - it could be a current one or an earlier photo. A drawing always has something more interesting about it than a photo.

hey tizer im a boy!!! LOL haha no worries!!

talking of old ..my great grandad is 85 and has been ill recently but hes a nightmare!! i love his stories and acts them out as if he was still 18, he lives on his own and still cuts his own hedge and grass and he wont let you help him, he says its better to wear out than rust out!!

today has been a GOOD day!! ... i cant believe it. we have the olympic artist coming to our school on monday. he has drawn loads of famous people while they are competing in the olympics and i have been selected as the pupil he most wants to draw, so i miss all lessons on monday. i have to put on my athletes kit and throw discus while he draws me.

Then i got called into the office and the year head congratulated me for my selection at the england championships and says that i am a good roll model and has asked for film of me competing in the english championships as they want to show it to the whole school!! eerrgghhh cant say that bit is so good but she said it will be good for the young ones in school to see if you work hard like me what you can acheive

then i took my drawing to be framed.. pick it up tomorrow

then i get home and a tattoo artist who has spotted my work rang me up and asked if i would work for him and do some art work for his shop and design some tattoos and hes going to pay me!!!  so ive had a good day!!!!

oh and guess what my art teacher has turned a new leaf!!!! he was really good today and really encouraging, he says that i will get an A* so i  showed him a photo of my drawing of my mum, not that i was going to, and he was really pleased, so im feeling more happy

Conti, I've been following this topic for ages without saying anything, but wow, sounds like you have everything going for you.

Conti/Conor, sorry about that slight error! Like Wendy, I haven't been following this thread but I saw the drawing of the baby and realised how good you are at portraits and that gave me the idea about Stanley and his book.

Somewhere back in the past I got the idea that a daughter of one of the forum members was doing pictures. But then I'm known for getting my knickers in a twist - or should I say underpants 'cause I'm a boy too (well, owd fella more correctly).

Stanley, a great photo but you want to get the image software on that crease by your nose (or is it a duelling scar?). Who was it that improved my aeroplane photo on OGFB? Thomo, I think - perhaps he would do it for you.

I could do it myself and have done on another version but this is the original school photograph from 1940. Handsome little lad......
