Glass is rock steady, dry frost outside but the 5 day forecast says we have a low coming in with wind and rain. I like this weather, no wellies in morning for walking on grass and just right for brisk walking uphill at mid-day. This weather suits ne fine. Mind you, February Fill-Dyke blows in tomorrow.

Glass fallen a bit to 29.4". Westerly wind, stair rod rain at 05:00. Up periscope weather in Barlick, Jack will have an early bath! But not cold....

Our winter has been tame, little snow and mild until recently...BUT...first storm of the winter is forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday....35cms+, high winds at 45kmh, -8...so far all of the storms have gone around us and hit the eastern US and Canada...maybe we will get lucky again. But looks serious stuff.

Sun shining but lots of black clouds around, not as cold as yesterday.  More rain forecast for later.

Poor Queensland is in the wars again. Category 5 CYCLONE due to hit in about 7 hours....the word is it going to be devastating. (so tack a thought for them onto any prayers you might send heavenward today)

Very warm and humid here today, though not the extreme heat of the past four days. Can't complain...given Queensland's troubles!

Stair-rod rain had finished by the time we went out at 8am. Dry day thereafter. Glass steady, flags dry and no frost this morning but a stiff westerly breeze.

Listening to the warnings about the category five storms heading in for NE Australia. Two ten hour spells coming in, first hits at about noon our time then a lull as the eye passes over and another similar storm in the reverse direction. Winds over 150mph and seven metre storm surges forecast. Cairns area missed the last lot but it looks as though it's their turn now.

Snow storm as forecast is blasting away, wierd storm with  high winds, heavy snow, cold and...thunder and lightening.  Just to add to the traffic woes, right at the start of rush hour, power lines running over one of the major expressways into the city came down onto the roadway thus forcing the closure for a few hours...now waiting for the snow plows to reopen the road.

Today is ground hog day, in Canada folks look to Wiarton Willy to determine how long winter will continue, if he sees his shadow we can expect 6 more weeks of winter.  For the first time in 55 years this will be done indoors...somehow doesn't make sense!

They can 'fix' it indoors.  I have just watched the beginning of the storm in Queensland, people are all sheltering in schools etc. - looks bad.  Here we had showers this morning but now the wind has risen and blown them away.

Queensland news looks hopeful up to press. Mail from Martha in Minnesota that they were locked down by a blizzard and also from a friend in St Louis, she said that had an ice storm and were waiting for the power to go out. Streets and sidewalks sheet ice.

In Barlick it's dry, blustery wind from the west and glass steady on 29.4". Lots to be said for a Pennine winter Belle!
