Anyone watching the new series of Heir Hunters on BBC1 at 9.15 am currently? I have  a  bit of a feeling that they are 'ambulance chasers' and I guess they charge a hefty commission, but there some really fascinating stories in the genealogy field. On the plus side, they do find all the true heirs, and bring cash to many very surprised prople.
The department which deals with such matters is known as the Bona Vacantia department of the Treasury Solicitor's Office, which at first sounds as if it belongs in our Polari section, but rather than gay holidays, means vacant goods..

Seems to be in the mornings at the moment Belle. God knows how DT finds time to watch daytime TV. Records it?

It is mornings, about 9ish on BBC 1. I thoroughly enjoyed the first series, last year or the year before but could not get into the following one. It had changed somehow and was not as enjoyable - maybe it was the feeling of 'ambulance chasing' that put me off?

I watched it as well. Couldn't help getting the feeling that she would have learned more if she'd restrained herself and let her experts finish what they were saying.

I made a will recently, partly as a result of watching this programme. It contained this wonderful sentence -  " IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand the day and year hereinbefore written"  Whatever happened to plain English?
Still if it wasn't fancy, I wouldn't have thought I was getting my money's worth!

When I gave Vera half of Hey Farm after we'd paid the mortgage the deed of gift started off something like:

In token of the love and affection borne by .....  I thought it was lovely wording.

I saw Davina Mc Call which I enjoyed. She was  relieved and lucky not to be related to any royals.I think she came across well ,pleasant and engaging.

I watched that series (H H) a few times when I was over there. I eventually cottoned on that the potential recipients have to sign an agreement before the details of any inheritances are disclosed. No doubt this incurs a fee for HH. (which I guess may be quite high, but hey! it was money you may never have got otherwise).
Everyone should have a will...I have had one since I was 19. It has been updated a couple of times when my circumstances have changed along life's highway too.
