The one at the front is a bull?
(are their horns usually that straight?)
Our cows and bulls are different to yours, so don't think I am being picky asking that question...our bulls have slightly curved horns, and our bulls are generally heavier build too.
We used to live beside a dairy farm, with the milking shed almost opposite our house. I found a renegade cow on my front porch one afternoon. (I thought she would follow instructions as I tried to guide her back to the herd, but she just looked at me with those big brown eyes and refused to budge).
The farm had a bull they called 'Bankcard'...because he CHARGED everything.

Who knows..it looks like a young bullock to me, but it could be a young cow...certainly beef and not milking. The middle one is pregnant, and it and the one at the back are more alpine in origin, but i didn't want the long nose on the middle one it looked quite reindeer like, so used some artistic license.. I don't do careful drawing or gridding up, more slam it on the paper and make adjustments as I go so there is more to do. Perhaps Conty's corner was the wrong place to put it as our approaches are so different and we want different outcome. The horn on the left is a tad too long, but not much more cuved. Am dropping the horizon today and more tweaking..so we shall what state of play is at the end of the day.

Belle i wish more would put their art work here, it doesnt matter if our styles are different, does it? not to me it doesnt anyway,
i love looking at other peoples art work, anyway after september theres going to be some weird stuff from me, not sure how thats going to go yet, sweep stake on how long i go to art school? LOL

Couldn't agree with you more, the whole point about creativity is it is as individual as the people doing it! i hope Art school does not dismay you..read aout Picasso's approach and make it work for you.

Maz, looks like a young bullock to me (Castrated Bull) but you'd have to check its back end to be sure. All cow horns start as buds and develop though straight like in the picture to their mature shape which is curved inwards, either up or down. If it was a heifer it would most likely be a polled breed (bred without horns) or one that had had the horn buds cauterised when it was a calf. Having a horned cow among a bunch with handle bars can cause trouble because the horned beast is the top dog and can be a bully. Doen't matter with bullocks because they all tend to be aggressive anyway and aren't allowed to grow to any great age. They go for beef before they mature and become a problem.

belle your painting is looking great :)
ive been working on stephen (inbetween doing the sports scholarship) thats a complete waste of time. conditions are 100% worse than ive already sorted for myself, so although ive recieved an email this morning congratulating me i dont think i will be taking it.
anyway heres an update of Stephen, taking shape all over now but i havent finished anything yet, all of it has bits that still need lots of work but im getting there.

Stephen is coming on, i am astounded at your patience and your stick -to -it -iveness, it will stand you in good stead ..talking of unmade beds have you ever seen what Brian Sewell the art critic commented on Damien Hirsts work...can't repeat it on here but if you look uphttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Sewell you will find it!

OMG!! haha what a thing to say, Brian doesnt seem to like modern art and doesnt mince his words, though it must make him feal sick to see Damion hirst in the rich list at 2010 he was worth 215 million!! (hes from bristol) haha maybe i should cut up some dead animals LOL

I find the whole concept of the "Oak Tree" fascinating....a fine example of original thinking on the part of the artist . (and the unmade bed , come to that)..
If you visit Tate Modern or can get hold of the original text that accompanies the exhibit , you will find some humour in there as well as the stuff about belief...
If I remember correctly Micheal says he can change it back into a glass of water ,anytime ...if he wants to !
(I gather he had to do that once as the Australian Customs would not let a Gallery import the work , as they classed it as Vegitation ! )
