Here is a bit of information for anybody travelling on the M65 tonight.

A crash between two cars has caused the closure of part of one of Lancashire's busiest motorways.

The westbound carriageway of the M65 in the Nelson area is set to remain closed until early evening, police said.

One woman has been airlifted to hospital following the accident near to junction 12. The carriageway is shut between junctions 12 and 13.

The eastbound carriageway is also affected. Only one lane is open but traffic is slow, police said.
