My Dad (and Mum...still !) could often be heard to use the phrase  "oooo...(he/they ) set off at Boggart.."
I'm sure it's been covered here ,before ....eh

When a steam engine got out of control and overspeeded it was said to be 'off at Bggart' or 'running at Boggart'.

Those 'bogeys' that come out of your nose, are known as 'snapperjacks' in my family.  A softer, dribble of snot is a 'candlestick'.....

I remember candlesticks in Stockport. I had a mate, George Davidson, who was prone to them and we regularly told him to have a good sniff! Catharr was endemic in that part of town, permanently damp and heavy air pollution.

Moving to the opposite end of the body...... looking for what the Beatles famously referred to as "toe jam footballs" was always referred to as "farming" by my mother.

Over on "Continuity" ...I posted " you can't fool me "....

It reminded me of a couple of phrases used by friends in Derby , along the same lines....

" I didn't just come down the river in a peapod"...and
" I'm not as Green as I am Cabbage looking"....and then the  classic...

" Yeah Yeah, I've heard ducks fart before"...

Anyone got any more....?

Discussing the proposal of M and S to not accomodate larger children in their uniform section..so as not to encourage "obesity" ..(it's getting like a witch hunt eh?) I was reminded of a wonderful oldfashioned word that was a saving grace for large children in my day..."Sturdy"..you could even buy "Sturdy boy's" trousers in a local shop.
