I've had a good read around the forum but can't really find anything. I admit this is a bit of needle in a haystack..but I've traced my family back to the Nutters of Far Banks Farm near Newchurch in Pendle.

John Nutter 1777 who married Mary Pollard 1779.

Marriage: 20 Feb 1798 St Mary, Newchurch in Pendle, Lancashire, England
John Nutter - (X), of this Chapelry
Mary Pollard - (X), of this Chapelry
Witness: John Hartley; James Dixon
Married by Banns by: Thos Hugginson Minister
Source: LDS Film 1278872

I think I can trace this line back at least another generation at Newchurch in Pendle but as of yet I'm not 100%.

Being because of the surname and the fact that it is Newchurh in Pendle where it all kicked off...I know it's years later, but I was wondering if anyone knows if this line had any connecton with of course Alice Nutter? It would appear the Nutters owned land around that part of Pendle...so I was wondering if say Far Banks Farm might of belonged to the Alice Nutters family?

A bit of short cut, I guess is what I'm trying to do!..because as I've read Alice Nutters tree is very hard to follow.

My expience is that around here at least pre industrlal revolution most farming families with the same surname were indeed related, though at a distance.

Many thanks.

There seems to be two versions of Alice Nutter's Dad!

There is they one mentioned in the will and the one on the Clitheroe Court Rolls. At first I just thought it might just be another Giles Whitaker. I'm not sure now because the dates on the Clitheroe Court Roll matched up correctly to the age of Alice's parents..plus the name Edward Hoyle is mentioned on both, plus the daughter was called after the mother on both.

 Joan/Gennet...I don't know.
