Following the recent discussion about chippies in Barlick, I was wondering whether there's merit in creating a new Forum for reviews of local eating out places? And pubs? This would benefit newcomers/visitors as well as locals. I would be happy to write reviews of the local restaurants and pubs - a tedious and arduous task but someone's gotta do it The beauty of a website like OGFB is that several people could comment on the same place - one person's meat is another person's poison - so the reader would get a fair and balanced idea, unlike newspaper reviews which depend on the mood of the reviewer on just one occasion.

Being a newcomer, although a visitor for the past 20 years, I felt the need to try everywhere. I am gradually working my way through Barlick. Church St Chippy is, in my opinion, great for quality and value. The Med for pizza's. The Fosters was a nice bit of dinner but I haven't been there since the new owners took over. The Italian down Gisburn Rd was a good "do" on a sunday afternoon. The £10 "eat all you can until unable to walk" at the Masalla rooms in Foulridge is a nice cheap evening. For quality and atmosphere Jesters was excellent. I had been told that it was expensive but compared to where I lived this time last year it was a reasonably priced evening (4 beers, 2 bottles of wine, 3 courses for 4 people, 2 brandies and 2 coffees was just over £120)

Called at The Ram at Cliviger a couple of weeks ago and whilst did not eat the menu looked very inviting. Good range of dishes and you could get  some starters and main for £10 for the two. The food looked and smelled very appetising. The pub makes the most of its gardens and the scenery of the gorge and there must be 2 dozen tables set outside. We will be giving the food a try before too long. Nolic

Cross Gaits on the Barnoldswick Road between Barlick and Barrowford, excellent for Sunday Lunch, their roast beef dinner is excellent value.

The Italian in Gisburn Road, great for a celebration with a crowd.

Excellent pub in Gargrave, next to the garden centre there, Doc will know its name, brilliant for Sunday lunch if you have youngsters, their play facilities are excellent.

Tempest Arms on the way to Skipton, slightly more expensive but pleasant

The Bull, again on the way to Skipton, havent eaten there but had a great Sat night.

The Mexican, next to the Ski Slope half way up Pendle Hill, cant remember its name, but again great with a crowd.

Victoria's Needle in Barlick, took Mum there a few times when she was up, very pleasant lunch venue!

The Anchor Inn at Salterforth, went there with the visiting clan the other Saturday, food and service were excellent, had a brilliant night and can only apoligise to the member of staff that served us, Doc recognised her as a member of this site and we decided after multiple cocktails all round to publicly introduce ourselves. The poor girl probably went home and set alight to her computer .......  I know I would have!

Absolutely loved Jesters for an adult only evening, perfect for an Anniversary or special night out! Warm, cosy and very romantic!

I can think of many more that we havent eaten in, just sampled their alcohol but I cant remember all the names, that has to be a sure sign that a good night was had by all!

The Sparrowhawk in Fence is a great pub; lovely food and a nice atmosphere. Also Jade Palace in Earby is another favourite of mine.

Just paid £7.80 for Fish, Chips and Peas twice with a carton of curry sauce from Chruch Street Chippy.

I thought fish & chips was a cheap meal, just shows how long ago its been since I last visted a chippy

Must admit that for the same price, I tend to favour Kelbrook chippy.

Does Jack like a bit of fish?  Connor goes nuts for a piece of cod (with the batter removed).

Depends where he is and how hungry.  On the whole he likes to stick to his chicken carcasses and red meat trimmings.  Certainly keeps him fit........

Just returned from a meal at The Ram Inn, Cliviger, celebrating Dans birthday. Excellent choice and variety of dishes, well cooked and efficiently served at reasonable prices. 4 starters, 4 main courses and 3 sweets for just over £45.00. Lovely pint of Black Sheep served as well.

If anyone is interested leave it for today, Dan was hungry and there might not be a lot left. Nolic
