Lunar Eclipse this February will be visible from the western hemisphere,
20th night from the Americas and
21st very early morning from Europe and Africa.
Interesting article from the magazine "Sky & Telescope":

Yup, prepare for a foggy night and cloudy sky. That would be just our luck. Is this going to be one of those red moons that we get sometimes?

Talking of the Moon...

The Society for Popular Astronomy has a great web site:

http://www.popastro.com/home.htm

Mrs Tizer and I were fortunate enough to be able to contribute to one of their sightings of a "daylight fireball" (meteor) some time ago. I emailed them and they were very helpful to a total novice like me. They have great ways of estimating the size and elevation of meteors for novices.

We were standing in the garden trying to identify a bird on the telephone line and just happened to be looking in the exact right direction to see it flash impressively across the sky. Very exciting!

I will just go out side and see if I can see the moon,,,,,,,,,,our lunar is eclipsed by the clouds (syclone Nicholas has something to do with the anount of wind and cloud we are getting).  But when it does appear it is white and bright.
