How is it that every steeplejack I know (or knew) always wore some type of bunnet (hat) ? Ronnie used to wear a beret, I thought that was just a hangover from his service days.

Swifty, yes, you're right, he had the contract for dropping the chimney. He did Era and its chimney next door as well and Fred dropped that one. I think Moss Mill was left and became unit space development, not sure if it is still there.
Robert, I think they were all old-fashioned. I wouldn't have dreamt of not wearing a hat, still do in fact. 'If you want to get ahead get a hat!' Remember the old advertising slogan?

Good photo Stanley,
Yes, the man next to Fred 's side is demolition Contractor, Harry Forshaw who was also a long-standing friend of Fred's; the children were probably Harry's; the next chap, another old mate of Fred's is alan Brindle of bolton. I recognise the cheerful looking, bearded chap, but can't recall his name.
