As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

Conor, stop being so edgy about the pics. They are, apart from being brilliant images, totally acceptable and beautiful. Anyone who can't see that should take professional advice. Older people are more resilient than you think. I was once walking down Frith Street in Soho past all the sex shops with an 85 year old lady called Florence. (It's a long story!) I was trying to shield her from the pollution of the brightly lit windows full of devices even I didn't know the purpose of when Florence peered past me and said 'Oohh! Look at them big black things. We used to call them dildos" A valuable lesson for me, she did it deliberately of course to remind me that we were wrong if we thought we'd invented sex. Our elders had seen it all before! Bear it in mind when you post your pics, we might be a bit more wordly wise than you expect.

Sad about the artwork. Unthinking incompetence. Deal with it and soldier on, your day will come. Brilliant work. Can't advise on the number of prints. Test the market first, do a bit of cold-calling, knicker shops, lingerie manufacturers, advertising agencies. I'd go for the manufacturers first. Just drop them an image or two at low res. Trick is to identify the target person by name and position so you get it right. I'd select one or two and send by post, not email. Use recorded delivery, it raises the status of the mail and starts on the right foot. It shows you value your own work.

Conor, try some of the biggie international lingerie labels  http://www.lingerie-uncovered.com/labels/names.htm  - if you get any contracts tell them that you have a couple of art experts who would gladly check out their own models for you to see if you could draw them - are you up for it Comrade? Nolic

Comrade. I'll have to consult my GP and daughters! In principle yes. (Just because there's snow on the roof it doesn't mean the fire has gone out!)

i am getting alot of mixed responses, i think these drawings are like marmite. some love them others are indifferent and some simply dont like the subject. heyho cant please everyone all the time.

the main thing is i like them and enjoy producing them (when i find the time urgh)
i seem to be not getting the hand right on the ruder drawing of the 2, its looking butch somehow and its doing my head in, i might even take it out and do something else, but cant think what might look exceptable in place of a hand. dad says i sould add a tat to her bum but i think that will look harsh. any ideas?

How about the tips of the fingers instead of the whole hand?

Conty, the problem with the hand, apart from what you have already identified, is that although you have been acurate in portraying what a hand does, because it's upside down it confuses the observer, take it out altogether, and have a little less back in the picture to balance it up so that the black area isn't dominant.

Conor, stop worrying about it. It looks fine to me but if you are unhappy about it do as tinker says and take it out.

Hands are notoriously difficult to get right. Look at some of the old masters and see what a mess they make  of them. Disney made all his figures with just 3 fingers as 5 don't look right.

If I had a 10th of your skill I would be over the moon. Nolic

Can I put my 2cents (penny'sworth) in.... when I viewed these 2 images a few days ago, I immediately saw the difference between the hands, but did'nt mention it cause I don't paint and therefore don't understand what goes into each work - Maybe there was more work  to do.  But having said that, the first is feminine, with fine fingers and long white nail tips (especially the thumb), but not the second, it definately appears masculine with it's broader fingers and more wrinkles compared to the first image.  The first image is exquisite.
Hope you don't mind Conor    :)

i dont mind any feedback good or bad, it helps.

the drawing is no where near finished so when the back is darkened i think it will balance out, its just not got the layers added yet. and also the lace on the hand side ive not really started on yet as i need to get the hand right first.  cathy you are right about the first drawing the hand is much slimmer and its not the first thing you look at when you look at the drawing. the second drawing the hand is rather too prominant for my liking. i really want the veiwer to look at the lace and knickers first and the hand last and thats not whats happening yet. i just might have to do what belle suggests yet if all else fails.

moh. i will have a good go at it on saturday and just see what happens, your idea is something ive been thinking about but cant figure how to add just the fingers with her stood in that position. try it its so hard to get it that position and to be comfortable. and im thinking if its uncomfortable to stand like that, will that not show in the drawing? i may have a brain wave before saturday LOL

Conor, stop thinking about the pics in terms of 'rude' because they aren't. Good feedbac above, take notice and as Comrade Nolic says, persevere, keep adjusting and stop when your head says it is OK. It's your drawing and nobody will criticise the finished product. You have a wonderful talent and it carries its own responsibilities and rewards, both of them are yours so you'll have to live with it. I can think of worse fates! Onward and Upward Conor!!!

Conty you have hit the nail on the head....the awkward posture of the hand does come accross as uncomfortable and a bit unnatural which is why it is attracting all the attention.

There are more of his drawings on the site Conty, and other's who use pencil. I used it myself for the first few years of my Art life.

Tom , just an idea.....Can you draw the Squeeze-box player's hands as a Blur?.....( on both ends of the instrument)  because that's what they often are !
