Sorry, it's me again. I don't seem to be able to get the 'Paste from Word' feature to 'insert' text in a reply to post. It copies it OK with ctrl+V into the big plug in window, but then won't 'insert' into the reply window. Any advice?

many thanks,

cloggy

Its Ctrl C to copy it to the clipboard, Ctrl V to paste it to wherever.

Works with OO and Linux, no reason why it shouldn't work with the M$ tyranny.  Wink

Cloggy, if it still doesn't work save it as a text only document first and copy and paste that. I occasionally have the same problem with me weekly articles.

I have just realised when I tried to hear Conor that the sound has disappeared from my computer - any ideas? I have looked at the volume and it is on low but it wll not let me move it.

Those Ctrl to something or other don't usually work. My pc bypasses them and does it own thing.

Don't know your system Moh but there is a basic setting in I think preferences that can overide the volume button on the screen. Try right clicking on the icon. If that fails go looking in something like 'accessibity' for a window that controls sound. Sorry I can't be more specific, I've blanked Windows menus. Plugs might know if he's reading this.

Moh, do you use a laptop? If so you may have a soft key setting for your volume that you may have caught whilst typing and the only way it might show is by switching it on and off and trying that. Nolic

'Sound and Audio Devices' in control panel would probaby be the place to start.  Its called that in XP, later versions may be called something different. (M$ is good at moving the goal posts). What you find when you get there varies by audio driver, but poking around the tabs that appear may yeild some clues.  Some audio systems have an icon on the task bar (mousing over the icons in the task bar may yield clues).

Can't be more specific with seeing or at least knowing a lot more about your particular machine.  If its a desktop, you can check the speakers are ok by unplugging them at the back of the machine, turning the volume up and putting your finger on the end of the plug.  You should get a nice mains hum from the speakers if they are working.

Alternatively I'm fairly cheap for a home visit in Burnley..........

Got my sound back - apparently my sound driver (or some such thing) had given up the ghost.
