Hi to Everyone,

I e-mailed Stanley and he was kind enough to point me in this direction. I am looking for any information on the Wilkinson family. This all started when a cousin gave my sister a card recording the burial of a Rycroft Wilkinson of Blera Side in August 1867. This card was in the possession of my grandmother who died in 1949. ( Grandfather died in 1947 ).

Well, to cut a long story short ( I know history is a long story !!! )  I have obtained the marriage certificate of a Joseph Wilkinson of Broach House who married  Caroline Harrison of  Noyna Hall on the 24th december 1837. On the marriage certificate it names Rycroft Wilkinson as Joseph's father, and a Joseph Harrison as Caroline's father. Under occupation Joseph and Caroline are Weavers (Rycroft was a Weaver and Joseph Harrison a Rougher ?).  Following this through in 1839  Joseph and Caroline had a son named Rycroft, born 6th July 1839 at this time they are living in Moss Houses ??. It is this Rycroft who I believe is on the memorial card., and who I believe is my Great Grandfather.

I have requested my grandfather's birth certificate from the CRO to see if Rycroft is named as his father.    Any information on Broach Houses , Noyna  or Moss Houses would be very much appreciated. I thank you for reading this,    great site for information.

Yours sincerely

Frank Wilkinson

ps Currently we live in Aberdeen so we can't  come down to Foulridge/Colne until March time, to investigate further.

Hi People,

All weekend I have been on the trail of the twins Caroline and Mary Wilkinson. I am now 95% sure Caroline married a Thomas Stow at Glusburn around 1892. He is listed as a Hawker/ Greengrocer & Caroline as a dressmaker. Elizabeth Carolines mother was also a dressmaker . It appears they have a son Robert. E Stow .

I also think I have found the entry for Mary Wilkinson's marriage at Skipton 9a  74, but time will tell.!!!!!!! I haven't yet found the other half of the entry.

Just popped in to see how you are getting on.

The 1901 entry Household Members: Name Age John T Brewis 21 Caroline Stow 33 Robert E Stow 3 Thomas Stow 34
posted by Gloria has fascinated me because I have a connection to the Brewis name from Northumberland!!  And it has reminded me I haven't had time to bring that side of my research up to date recently.  Not that I have time at the moment mind, but I might try and squeeze in some searches to see whether John T is related to my Brewis's.

After all, the dust won't go away on it's own and will still be there tomorrow!!

Looks like Mary married the William Dawson on the same pager

1891 census - ref  RG12/3536 living 4 Dawson Square, Steeton with Eastburn

William Dawson age 31 worsted warp dresser born Eastburn

Mary Dawson age 27 born Thornton in Craven

Florence E Dawson age 1 born Crosshills

Living at no. 5 were James & Sophia Dawson - in their 50's - could be Williams parents possibly

Cannot find them in 1901 yet.

Why do I get 2 spaces between lines  -when I press enter - on this site?

I found them but it can't be the right ones because Florence Elizabeth was their eldest child and they did not marry until 1888.  Also places of birth are incorrect.  I just had a thought whilst walking the dog - I wonder if they emigrated?  I have checked deaths - no records of them dying, I tried Wm. - Dowson, - Florrie but no trace 1901.  Found 2 Florence Elizabeths marriages in 1907 but one was Bolton and one Gt. Ouseburn.

Hi Gloria,

Just looking at         Mary  A  Dawson.  I know Mary didn't have a middle name, It's just Mary on her Birth Certificate
