I love painting and am a local amateur painter have got an N.V.Q. Level 4. I sell locally but not recently. I work as an Art technican, which involves allsorts really! I think more should be done in schools as painting is a good way of helping children communicate and deal with stress, adults too !

I like it Tom. It has a refreshing simplicity about it. (kind of a 'children's book look' to it.....which is meant as a compliment.....unless you were aiming for 'true to life....in which case, I am sorry)
I am only new to the world of painting on paper....walls are no problem at all, but paper is entirely different! I have painted a portrait of my son and a portrait of Febby. I actually bought a rather large canvas yesterday and have been playing with ideas this morning, scratching around on scrap paper. I was struck by some very abstract figures I saw in a painting last week and, whilst I don't want to copy, I love the formless 'blobbiness' of what I saw. My canvas is about 4ft x 4ft......
I have other hobbies....the main one being quilting, but any form of needle work attracts me. I must profess (in all things I do) I have more enthusiasm than talent....but that doesn't worry me at all. I love 'having a go' and keeping busy.

Nolic ...I want to see 'Miss Potter'. I think it was released here in cinemas on the 5th Jan (well, Febby seems to recollect that date.....which leads me to ponder why he didn't take me to see it for our Wedding Anniversary on the 6th....as I am sure I mentioned it on several occasions....and I am about ready to strangle him....)

A pic of the portrait I painted of Febby has been emailed to Stanley. It is worked in acrylics . Unfortunately it is difficult to photograph as it has a glossy coating, so some of the detail is missing on the photo......still....you will get some idea....

First class of the year today, I wonder what we will be doing. From the above picture I think I have a lot to learn. It was brilliant. I have done a few pencil drawings of people. I found one the other day I did years ago, a copy of a school photo of my youngest daughter. Iquite like doing portraits, perhaps I should work on it.

Maz, I commented on the picture forum how good this was. I am very impressed.
This has brought to mind one of my Rainhall Road school contempories, Stuart Robertson. I was always in awe of him because at the age of 9 or 10 he could draw and paint wonderfully and also had the loudest and longest belch I had ever heard - what a hero.!!! Nolic

An ability to belch loud and long, to spit great distances and to pee as high as possible up a wall were valuable and treasured attributes when I was a lad. Nolic
