The small conical emitters are being installed on the lamp posts in Skipton Road. No news from Mrs Trelliss. Only good thing is that Turkey foil is on sale in the Cathedral of Chice. Bit thicker than usual brand. Good for lining beanies to block the transmissions.

Mind the heat doesn't expand the crack and open it up. Mind you, unlike  Cathy's mug, it won't leak.....

Shopping in full swing in Barlick at 8am this morning, a queue in Chaudrie's and Co-op car park rapidly filling.

I reckon we have missed the lights this year, they must be nearly there.

There was a frenzy of last minute sprout-shopping in Barlick yesterday, I wonder how many people will find that nevertheless they have forgotten something!

Let us not forget that despite all our misgivings about conspicuous consumption there are a lot of excited kids opening presents as I write. They are not to blame for the escalation of commercialism, all they know is that the goodies have arrived!  I hope theyappreciate and enjoy them and have a happy day.

The mince pies and whisky were consumed so Santa must have been. There is one parcel for Jack! I have an idea it contains his usual quota of sqeaky toys from ann. He will open them after the Letcliffe walk (weather permitting)  and destroy the lot in ten minutes flat!

Merry Christmas to you all......

I've done well...two warm polo neck shirts in my favourite colours, a book with lots of old photos about the RAF in Cornwall in WW2, and a set of highlighter pens 'cos I'm always wanting to mark something for further attention!

On Xmas Day I noted the smell of cooking as I walked up to Letcliffe. Today, I started wondering about how many people are watching the letter box and dreading the monthly credit card statement. Was it all worth it? Then there was the stabbing in Oxford Street....  The assumprion is that it started as an argument over a pair of discounted trainers.  I find that very sad.

How many days to Easter?  The Cunning Wheezes departments will be working hard already.....

The student shot in Manchester was a nasty incident. The police say there was no motive. Surely there must have been a motive - or was it an accident or a mentally deranged man who did the deed?
