Hi I joined the site as I was Googling my dad's old piano teacher, to find out more about him (Lloyd Hartley) and stumbled on this site. My great great grandad, William Boothman, was a farmer born in Barnoldswick and I do a bit of genealogy, so thought I'd join.
Looking forward to finding out more about the area part of my family comes from (we now live near York, but was born in Leeds). My dad, born in the 1920s in Leeds, was often teased about the Lancashire twinge to his accent which he said came from the Boothmans. Might even find some relatives here, you never know! Looking forward to chatting with you folk.

Yes, Heather Leigh, Did you visit him there? It was ideal for him with about 6 acres, so he could still have a few cattle and a henhouse and "the Stables" where he did all his woodwork.

No. I was very busy in those days! I always thought what an ideal retirement home it was for a farmer.

Hi Nigel! My grandma (born in Leeds) was Lillie Boothman. Her youngest brother was called David, and my dad always said that was a family name. He was never quite sure how, I think his mum had just told him that.
