 Published here for the first time on the Internet, is the unique insight into the steam driven Weaving Industry here in East Lancashire. Over 1,300,000 Words,500 photographs and 190 transcribed tape recordings of interviews with individuals who worked in the industry.

Well Done Stanley, The Lancashire Textile Project had its 200th viewing today, not bad to say that its only been on show on this site for 5 weeks, compared to the 25 years it was stuck in the archives.
When it gets up to 1,000 viewings, I'll buy you and Joe something nice
p.s. I don't think you'll have to wait long either. |

The Lancashire Textile Project is fantastic. Particularly since my Dad and both my Grandfathers were in the business. Well done!

I have been trying to have a look at the Lancashire Textile Project, but I cant get past the homepage. Is it just me being stupid or is there a problem?

Tip...don't log on to it whilst your husband is snuggled up asleep on the lounge next to you with a heavy cold. That music would wake the dead! Sorry Febby...sorry Febby (tee hee)...you should have seen him jump! It was quite amusing...

There's a lot in there.... I was talking to Andrew Schofield at the North West Sound Rachive whih holds all my research and he told me that a PHd researcher called in a few weeks ago to enquire about the LTP. Andrew set them up with a tape and after sitting listening to it for half an hour they gave up saying that they couldn't understand a word of the technical explanation they had chosen. Tough, they will have to go back to first principles and actually learn about the subject instead of cherry-picking. Too much research is like this nowadays, to really understand the LTP you have to listen to a large slice of the 2million words on there...... Bad news isn't it.

I still cant get past the LTP homepage, Stanley. When I click on the headings at the top of the page, a new page opens, but behind the homepage, so I can only see the top bit.

Clicking on any of the links just turns the top banner white Stanley, it doesn't take you anywhere. I seem to remember I had problems quite some time ago and did report it though I forget who to.

Wendy, something to do with how your browser is set up. Have you tried clicking on the bit you can see? Mel, again, I don't understand it, it works OK for me..... Send Doc a PM, tell him what your browser is and what the problem is you are getting. He may nhave a way round it whatever it is. It worked for me on IE6 and is still fine on Firefox.
