I have had my lunch in the cafe on the square today and I have to say it was absolutely brilliant value for money. My friend and myself had a lovely warm baguette sandwich each and a salad and chips to share and two great big piping hot brews of tea and it was about £5.50 each (not sure exactly cos she paid) . There was tones of food and it was lovely and fresh and home made. The atmosphere in there was lively friendly chatty and homely . I don't eat out often but this was such amazing value I will go in again I am sure .Give it a try.

Is that the one called the Mason's Arms?

No I think The Masons Arms is at Gargrave. The cafe on the square is situated on the town square Barnoldswick.

That'll be Victoria's Tea Rooms. Isn't the cafe a bit further to the left (out of shot) called "The Cafe on the Square?

Yeh The CafeOn The Square is to the left of Victorias in the picture, it's much smaller but a really good traditional cafe.

Have been in the Cafe On the Square this afternoon. Got talking to the proprietor Keith. He's a nice chap and likes to chat. Says he knows Stanley and Gus. He's thinking about coming onto OGFB. He knows who I am now. I said perhaps we could get a meeting set up in his cafe of OGFB members. Could be interesting.

Hot Vimto was the order of the day when I used to go to the cafe after school with a bunch of mates back in the 60's.

Yes panbiker I remember hot Vimto when I was a lad. I prefer it cold now though. Dandelion and Burdock and Sarsparella were good too. Sorry, hope I'm not advertising. There are other fizzy drink available.

Bradders, that fizzy drink you mentioned - won't say what it is, but it used to go up my nose - the fizzing bubbles that is ! But I still drank it though.

Keith does a lot of the catering for our church socials. Good cheap food, We get big tray meat and potato and cottage pies from him, its as cheap and tasty as making them ourselves and a lot easier.

This topic has stretched. We used to have hot Vimto and Kunzle cakes in a cafe down Dockray in Colne, my daughters loved Kunzle cakes but all wanted the same colour!
