Thanks Colin, a quick do - natural birth, no drugs and in and out of hospital 10 hours after checking in. All doing well.

Welcome Finlay, congrats to all and wouldn't it be nice if all births went like that! What a clever girl!
Jules hope you and daughter have some special times together before she goes off again.

Lovely news Ian and congratulations all round. A new birth is so positive, perhaps the world is OK after all!
Re. Man Flu. Not there yet but signs I am on the mend I think. All the participants in the Flu Party on December 22 are reporting slow improvement. Looks as though the bug came from Nelson......
See this LINK for the story of Mad Carew and the poem about him which I heard when I was a child. In the Wiki article they mention the piece by Joanna Jolly about the idol first broadcast last year, they repeated it on World Service this morning and it's worth looking for. No, she hasn't found the grave of Mad Carew but the idol and the temple exist. CLICK HERE for the poem, it's a goodie!

Thanks for all your comments. The little lad seems to have the tall gene that is kicking around in bits of our family. His dad is on the tall side also so no surprise that he is already "at the bottom" of the normal 1st size baby gro straight from the womb. A good start for the lad no doubt. Finlay and mum doing well. Big sister (2 and bit years) Isla is besotted.

3rd of January was 18 years since my dad died. New Year has always had a downer for me since then. It's nice to have something better to remember this time of the year for.
