As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

I think Conte Crayons are french, they have an accent over the e which i don't know how to do on my computer...but I assumed, obviously wrongly, as they are very popular with artists and pronounced in just the way your name is written, that is what you had named yourself after. Sorry!Innocent

I see by your grid you are a precise and organised artist who takes time over their work, and the results certainly pay off. Not being able to draw a straight line, or measure and use a ruler accuratley i have to just use my eye and hope for the best! I am also not as patient as you, so my results are more slap dash! Will try posting one, but don't hold your breath my attempts at posting on here have been poor to say the least!

On the shared names bit (see Conty above) I know two brothers, for family trade interest, the elder was called Chicken and therefore the younger was called Hutch.

Conty, don't worry about Photobucket cock-up, I've tidied it up. Always better to put images on the site and not rely on a third party. This is a common problem and I just delete them. The pic is great and I have to report that in my considered opinion, that lass could break a few hearts! A real gift......  My measure of an image is could I stand having it on the wall. She qualifies.

Julie, makes more sense than starsky and hutch!

Conte, great to see the work progress, if it's not a trade secret how do you do the skin texture? and the background...do you put something under the paper?

no secret belle, it just turns out like that, i think its the texture of the paper, really i should be using Bristol paper as its alot smoother but i dont have any. so the effect is a bit of a flook,

the only thing i use is some wooden pencils some machinal pencils and a good clean rubber and tissues for blending the graphite. thats it

What are Machinal pencils? Your wooden pencils would be of different grades, 2b, 3b, 5b, say?
