Comrade, greetings to you and Jack. Could BMD refer to Hatched , Matched and Despatched?

Did you see the obituary in BET re Mrs Windle referring to Windle and Whitinghams small weaving shed on Red Lion Street ? Coincidence abounds. Nolic

Hi Laurie,

it's probably not been transcribed yet. The Lancs BMD is by no means complete although the volunteers are working hard at it.

Comrade, yes, I did see the Windle/Whittingham obit in BET.  As you say, coincidence abounds.  I sent it to Geoff, it comes just as he is finalising his book.

Laurie, don't be afraid to throw up any questions you have, none of us know everything but in combination we are pretty impressive.  We can usually find an answer or a way round.

Laurie, I'm doing a bit of digging for you.  Has there ever been any suggestion that Haworth could be a corruption of Heyworth?

Hi Stanley

Many thanks for the information on the Duckworth's.

Long story short.

Tonight I spoke to a cousin of my husband's, who was a Duckworth before marriage.  She has a Duckworth family tree done by a Jim Duckworth who lives down south.  She is going to get me a copy done.  I am over the moon.  Or else daft.  Now the Haworth's.  I have certain information and will ask you for help when I get it all together.

Thanks again

Laurie

G;ad you are heppy, problem is, do you know what you've got yourself into?  Never mind, it's a wonderful semi-obbsession.  Don't go quiet on us, share your info and questions, remember there will bbe other Duckworths and Haworths watching these posts via Google, you will be helping them and if they get interested they will pop in and give us their info.  Two plus two equals five, they call it synergy........

he may think you are mad but eventually he will see what an absorbing thing it is.  It will repay you handsomely for all the effort and you are joining a very popular club, genealogy is the biggest thing on the web, could be bigger than sex actually bbecause it's all measured in page views and there is more info on a page of names than one of nudes.......  best of luck and we are all into helping people.  If other Haworths and Duckworths are reading this, register and share your information, you may have the piece of information that someone has been searching for for years.....

Hi Stanley

1891 Barnoldswick Census

Moses and Margaret Duckworth were my husbands great grand parents, their son Jim his grandfather.

I have quite a lot of information on this particular Duckworth family and will pass the info on as soon as my computer stops bumping me off line.

Laurie

Ann Duckworth married william Widdup in 1860 in St Mary the Ghyll Church. She was born in Barnoldswick circa 1840. . In 1871 the family had moved to Little Marsden ( Brierfield). They had a number of children, John(1861), Elizabeth (1864), Macfarlane (1866),Thomas(1868),William ( 1870), Margaret (1872), David ( 18740, Mary Ann ( (1877), Susannah ( 1879),

William was a house furnisher and cabinet maker

Many descendants of  these still live in the area, I believe

Sue
