We can't keep the name Helen's Drum as Silsden will be calling their replacement boat by that monicker. We had toyed with 'Rosa Calluna' but felt it was a bit fey, complicated and a right mouthful. 'Big Bertha' failed the relatives' test...
As Frabjous Day is one of my fave sayings when I'm happy, and Jabberwocky is an off-the-wall poem so it matches our personalities, this is now likely to become the boat's name. We have to complete the registration form by Thursday.

Go for it Cally. It's your home and if the name feels right then go with it!
(Imindoors says 'go with RMS Titanic, not quite sure what he is implying!!))

There are a few possibles within the poem, although Brillig and Bandersnatch are already taken as the names of two folk bands. I think The Mome Raths is/was a rock band.
I just checked on Jim Sheard's boat name website and Frabjous Day doesn't appear, so that's good.
Now I must stop - LOADS of things to do. We could do with hiring a man & van on Thursday but have left it too late. Anybody out there got a transit type van that's free on Thursday morning? There would be a small remuneration for your services... |

... they can indeed, though we hope to cruise only the nicest bit of the L&L, between Foulridge and Skipton.
Man & van sorted - fifty quid and the job's a good 'un. Friends have offered to help but it's not fair to expect them to give up their time just before Xmas, and I'd feel really guilty if anyone put their back out - any time of the year would be bad enough but the festive season would be a particularly bad time. |
