Political comment is a high risk activity on the site these days so I thought I'd try again to give those who are interested in politics a safe haven!

Give me someone who wears their heart on their sleeve and is prone to outbursts any day...I wouldn't spend two minutes in a room with slimy people like Alistair Campbell! Funny though how perception is distorted by prejudice...when John Prescott punched an unsuspecting member of the public for throwing an egg at him, no body batted an eyelid..in my opinion he should have been sacked on the spot! but I do hope they have documented the creepy whinging manipulitive behaviour of those who got the phones thown at them ...there's always two sides to a story!

Belle have you not seen the amount of money involved in the deficit ??
It is down to Godron both as Chancellor and Prime Minister I rest my case the man is a hypocrite and he missed an excellent opportunity to help his image and he missed it.

Belle, I agree with you basically about Godron's basic principles but can't forget the mistakes he made. I often wonder about the process involved in 1996 when Blair and Brown more or less tossed up for who should be PM and who should be Chancellor. With hindsight there were more able men to choose from but that's pure hindsight. I often think we missed a big opportunity with Frank Field...... As for placing any credence on Mandelson';s memoirs, forget it. I'll lay a small bet that when the evidence eventually surfaces we will find he was behind much of the in-fighting in 'New Labour'.

Cameron didn't include Coulson's dinner and sleep over at  Chequers after he was sacked on the grounds it was a 'private visit by a friend'. We aren't talking about Public School loyalties here, this is politics and if someone resigns there has to be a decent interval of purdah while the facts become clear. If they had to get together it should have been at a private residence not at the taxpayer's expense. Bad judgement and not the only example.

Nonsense on one account and that is you posted the reply !!!
Bradders you are clearly out of step with your opinion, 13 years of increasing deficit please explain who was responsible.

I don't think Bradders is out of step, in fact if you look at all the the replies you have had on here to your many posts Frank, that statement would be more aptly applied to you.
I have to confess I have not followed the ins and outs of the figures so what I am saying is more to do wih gut feeling, however I do know that Gordon was the only prime minister who set about trying to clean up politics, and the public sector and that is why he became so unpopular so quickly.

Wagons in a Circle Belle you are Under Attack with your left wing thinking, it passed in the 60s when you probably went to college. Please don't think you speak for others because I know that you don't !!!! I do get a little fed up of your sniping from the sidelines but I do excuse it, because as you say you haven't followed the debate on the deficit, so clearly you don't know what you are talking about.

That was quick Frank  ! .......Pity I could not have saved the comment you just deleted and replaced with this one .....Did you have second thought about the response , I wonder.

Now what was it  again  ?...."Just your opinion Belle , which means nothing to me ".....eh?

oh , and the bit about "get back to painting ."

(others will have seen it ,too)

You also mentioned that you thought that your views were in "Vouge"  at the moment .......

Well between you and me , that's a lovely little wine making area halfway between Dijon and Beaune (that's France , Frank )  .......I wouldn't go there for a bit , they might not be too happy.

Have you worked out what "the BskyB deal" means yet ?

Out of Step... Moi ?

"sniping from the sidelines"...so you have sidelined me have you? I certainly didn't see myself as being on the sidelines. Thank you for tolerating a mere woman Frank! Sadly your assumptions about me are innaccurate..i am not left wing..and I did not go to college in the 60's in fact I didn't go to college at all. I did go to university in the 80's does that help? It is possible that because I may be twenty years younger than you and have family still in education, i just may have my finger more on the pulse than you imagine?

.....and just for the record . I do not consider myself as left-wing either .

My education was wholly privately funded , and I did not go to College or University ....When the money ran out (one term before my GCEs ), I got a job.......in 1963.

...and as mentioned elsewhere , eventually I held some interesting technical posts....

During my working career  , I paid roughly 1/3rd of my salary (very good at times ) in Tax and  National insurance....When I ran my own business I paid Tax and was penalised by an unfair VAT system (effectively a 15% tax on turn-over....I was dealing largely second-hand collectable photographic equipment , with no claw-back on private purchases)....

This leads me to wonder who  paid for other people's education and salaries in the public sector and particularly in the Armed Forces.....

ME !....and others like me.....

Judging by the outcome in certain areas , it doesn't seem like very good value for money  , somehow !

PS  I have NEVER recieved ,nor asked for a single penny in State Benefit , but I have been to the doctor's and dentist  a few times ...oh , and I have a bus pass..(but there aren't any busses here....Great !)

I would be grateful, if the moderators of this website would consider the removal of the member known as Frankwilk...

Brad, I've zapped six members this morning already!

As for barring Frank, I considered sending you a PM but on reflection it may be useful if I give a response on air. This site is, and always has been, an open forum. Over the years we have had quite a number of Trolls and our policy has always been to allow them to run their course with an occasional word of advice or deletion of unacceptable material. If their conduct gets too exasperating Doc will bar them permanently. I have the power to make it impossible for them to gain entry but have only used this in the case of obvious mischief makers. As I said above, I zapped six this morning after a heads-up from Ian. I suspect Comrade Nolic deleted any bad posts but haven't heard from him. All part of the constant street cleaning we do to keep the site clean and fit to use.

All sites have what I regard as 'burrs under the saddle' , as far as I am concerned that is what Frank is. I take the view that members have enough sense to work out their own attitudes and if necessary to defend themselves. My main barometer is the PMs I get and when things get too bad I refer the matter to Doc, it's his site, all the moderators can do is sweep up and make recommendations.

I think you've all sussed Frank out, he is strong on contention and personal comment  but weak on rational explanation backed up by evidence. His aim is to seek attention. The members moderate this themselves by ignoring him, have you noticed how he occasionally goes away?

So, my advice is to put up with the aggravation, refuse to join in and stoke his exposure  and keep cool. He is not an effective contributor and deserves pity more than attack.

By the way Frank, any attack on me for attempting to inject this note of common sense will be deleted so don't even think about it. I am copying this post to Doc and I have no doubt he will be quietly watching.
