Today Bob and I had reason to go to Anglesey on business. On the way there we stopped at Abakhan, a fabric and crafts warehouse. It is one of the few places where i can buy material for dressmaking and these days I have a grandaughter to make for! ( By the way did I say we are expecting another grandchild in November. Eve will have a sister or brother)

Anyway back to my story. We were browsing the shelves when we noticed agroup of, what looked like students browsing also. Some had dress patterns in their hand, some had photographs /drawings of gowns, others had nothing. We decided they were students of Textile and Design. It didn't take us long to see who would pass the course with distinction and who would struggle to pass at all.

One girl picked up some pieces of foam out of a box and said 'What are these'.

'Shoulder pads'  said another.
'
Oh I thought they were for bras' said the first.

(It was this girl who looked very disinterested and had no pattern)

I had to laugh at the situation. especially as I imagined this alternative use.

Glad you explained.was begining to sound a bit like socks in the bra, legwarmers in the pants. Not as tickly as tweed knickers!

Do you really want to hear about my stinky old slippers, Bradders? (I have two pairs...them that stink...and another pair that don't...for 'best'...you see! i've never actually worn the second pair. No occasion has yet arisen that is worth the 'best' slippers...which could explain why they do not pong.)
I also have a pair of shocking pink 'CROCS'. Do you know what they are? They are rubbery shoes with holes all over them and quite a tread on the bottom. Great for gardening and walking in mud etc. My husband hates them.

Cazza...find some wool you like and I shall knit you some leg warmers. I have a pattern.

get your people to phone my people and we will do lunch...MAZ Go to Top of Page

I just threw  load of shoes out ...we seem to stockpile stuff here. I have crocs but they are black and that is the only colour I would contemplate. They are done now really and need replacing but no where seems to sell them anymore. My "live in" shoes are clogs that I got from tkmax. Very swish as they are patent and ivory in colour, and a recognised designer name. They are contoured like the fitflops so good for the back and the insoles are memory foam.. as soon as i put them on i knew i must have them..even though the colour was a bit too bright for me..they are just the most comfortable shoes in the world. Much better than crocs.

Bradders,  I get the feeling that you know women quite well....  ??

I've had the same workshoes for ages, so comfortable (homeypeds), I just keep on getting the heels replaced when necessary.  I don't know if they smell cause I never put my nose in them    haha.

If its shoes you want to talk about you should meet the Wifey, She works for Pavers shoes of York and is surrounded by thousands of shoes on a daily basis, as such I hear all the stories about customers and shoes. Yesterdays offering was, customer, "Oh, I really like these, but do you have another pair?" Wife, "Why, is there something wrong with them?", customer "No, but someone else may have tried them on"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
