Overcast and cool but dry and the glass is rising. Still good for the time of year but we need rain badly, the ground is cracking.

Slight chance of showers and cooler Cathy. Another glorious day again - what a fab. Easter.

Thanks Moh. We are enjoying a 5 day Easter Break because of our 96th Anzac Day. I could get used to this (oh dear) it's been lovely, but it's back to work on Wednesday.

Well said Cathy
The Band Played Waltzing Matilda
One of many renditions but a good video to go with it.

I've had that very moving song on a tape for ages - but just learned now that it dates only from 1971.. I thought it was by Banjo Paterson, but it seems he wrote the original Waltzing Matilda. You learn a lot on here!

My dad always told me that there was a mistake in the words of WM. He said troopers always patrolled alone and the line should read 'Trooper 123', his number, not three of them.
I'd forgotten it was anzac day. In connection with Gallipoli it should be MANZAC actually because men from the Manchester Reigiment were on the same landing.

Cool morning but a sunny day forecast. Glass has been rising slowly for three days and the outlook over the weekend is good as well.

White frost on the grass, even an iced up car windscreen in the Co-op car park. Perfectly clear sky, no wind, a lovely morning.
Butts Beck down to a trickle, what's the water level like at Whitemoor? Are we looking at a summer of canal closures?

Quite a cold east wind in spite of lovely blue skies and sunshine.

You're right Moh, but thankfully the east wind isn't strong enough to cut back on growth. The dry weather is beginning to affect shallow rooted plants but the trees are loving it, they look so fresh and green! Glass is falling a bit but nothing serious. No signs of any meaningful rain. It would be nice to have a really good soak. (Good walking weather though!)

The sun finally broke through in the afternoon but not a warm day. 22C on the Isle of Skye yesterday. Nice to see the North getting some benefit! Glass is tending to fall back, a change coming?

The blossom is blowing off our cherry tree like confetti - bright and windy again today - at least it kept fine for yesterdays celebrations.

May 1st. Driest April on record? Butts Beck is down to a trickle. Looks about the same today....
