Welcome to the OneGuyFromBarlick Web site
On this constantly updated site you will find a lot of information regarding the locality, people and history of West Craven, situated on the Lancashire/Yorkshire Border in this picturesque part of the North of England.
History, Genealogy, News, Events, Memoirs, Pictures and Local Gossip
are just some of the topics you will find within the site.
Please do not regard us as a private club open only to those who live in the locality. ‘Local history’ in the antiquarian sense is dead. What we are into is an open view of the history of a locality and its inhabitants. The sources of information that we are seeking to encourage are world-wide.
On another level, we passionately believe in the empowerment that self-publishing on the web can give to ordinary people. If you need evidence of this look at the LTP. Giving a voice to the workers was the whole reason for taking the trouble in the first place. If you have a site that is doing the same thing, swap views with us, we will be happy to give you space.
It can’t be emphasised too strongly that in order to participate fully you have to REGISTER. This is easy, free and perfectly safe, there is no advertising allowed on the site, No Pop-up's, No Ad-Ware or email list collections.
The bottom line is participation, we have had over 25,000 visitors looking at 75,000 pages this week. This is brilliant for a community site and we think it shows that we have hit on the right mix and content.
