I went up Letcliffe today in the sunshine with the birds singing and only a light breeze from the NW to spoil things so I decided you were right and it's probably about time we started to be optimistic.  However.....  have you seen the forecast for Easter?

Heater now installed. We are such warm little bunnies now.
Do you really think I should bring winter woollies? It has to warm up sometime....I bet you get an Indian summer now.
It should be just right in 6 weeks....but our summer tans have almost faded. We will stand out with our pale faces.

Maz, no worries about pale faces. The only English with tans will be those who've been abroad!
Wooliies might be order of the day - 16C at 2.00pm yesterday and it was raining !! Nolic

Not unpleasant out but a slight chill to the breeze - sun is now peeping through the breaks in the cloud.  Pendle Water in full spate and making a heck of a noise on its way through Victoria Park. One of the other "regulars" must be a poor sleeper as well. She was just going home with her little dog as I arrrived at 10 to 6!!   Dog walkers are a friendly bunch. Nolic

We had a cracker of a thunder storm yesterday about 16.00. It's a funny thing but they cheer me up. I love the theatrics of it all. The noise of thunder, the flashes of lightening, the atmospheric sky, the rain bouncing off the road and pavement. Brilliant.

Fire's lit. I just did a quick walk around the park and it needed to be brisk as it was definitely chilly. Nolic

"Can I afford it?  Do I need it?  Will something cheaper do as good a job?"

Heating on / fire's lit  in  July!  Come on men,  a bit of moral fibre needed here.  1st October is the date for heating. Don't you know there is an energy/financial crisis on? Put that light out!Wink

Bugger moral fibre......  I like my house dry and warm.  wearing a cardigan doesn't help air the house.  I've spent too much of my life being cold and wet at work, I don't see why I shouldn't enjoy a little bit of luxury in my old age.  After all, I don't use any fuel at all for transport....... It's all shanks pony.  (That doesn't air the house either....)

Tripps I light the fire when I think its needed not by the date.
Anyhow looks like it won't be needed today. Nice 2 mile walk at 7.00am and it was sunny and is now getting quite warm. Nolic

Same here Comrade and my bedroom window is open 365 days of the year.  Nice morning in Barlick as well but wind is North of West.  I've never known so much wind out of the cold quarter in summer......  No high temperatures until that changes.

Comrade , we used to sleep with the window open but we are now restricted to Mon-Wed as the noise form the "customers"at the nearby bar is too much.
One of my arguments with Pendle Council is that whilst they may have reduced the "boom boom" of the music the bar still infinges on my right to have a reasonable level of quite in my home and access to fresh air without noise. Doesn't seem to wash with them. Nolic

We always slept with our windows open but we don't in our new house as for some reason we don't feel as safe as we used to at the old place. I find it particularly hard as I can't sleep without fresh air....summer or winter.
You poor thing Nolic....doesn't seem right to have to put up with noise...I'm not sure what level of noise you refer to....but our last home was on a busy road with hoons racing up and down all night, but I got strangely used to it. Occasonally I sat bolt upright from a deep sleep as a throaty motorbike did a one wheeler up the road, but for the most part I slept through. Here, it is a totally different matter of feeling as if anyone could be lurking just the other side of the window...
