I run a family history website and blog called 'Bancrofts from Yorkshire' and am trying to find out how Bancroft Mill got it's name....I know it was not built by a Bancroft family, so where does it's name come from?

Originally it was to be called New Mill but before it opened in 1920 this had been changed to Bancroft after the name of the farm next to it. This is a corruption of 'bank crofts'
