A 73-year-old woman has died after a crash that left three other people seriously injured in Lancashire.
She was a passenger in a Nissan Micra which veered to the opposite side of Kelbrook Road, Kelbrook, and collided with a Chevrolet Tacuma.
Police said she was taken to hospital by air ambulance but died later.
The driver of the Nissan, 52, and both the driver and passenger in the Chevrolet, suffered serious injuries in the crash on Monday afternoon. Investigation started
Lancashire Police said the Micra was travelling towards Salterforth when it veered on to the opposite side of the road.
It narrowly avoided an oncoming Skoda before clipping the wing mirror of a Renault Clio, and finally colliding with the Chevrolet.
The road was closed for about four and a half hours and an investigation is now under way.
Sgt Tracey Ward, leading the investigation, has appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened at about 1410 BST.
"I would also like to speak with anybody who saw any of the vehicles driving along Kelbrook Road prior to the collision," she said. |
