I'm on a days leave today so after taking Misty out for a quick tramp around Victoria Park, a visit to Scoies for the weeks meat and then getting Gundred up to Morrisons I settled down in front of  the PC with my toast. Quick visit to One Guy then as Dan and mum had gone to school had a listen to The Travelling Wilbury's greatest hits album. To be honest I'd already had it on in the car but I felt it needed a proper listen and I was right. First CD has the "known" tracks on and is pleasant listening. I decided to put the DVD on my PC and have a look at some of the videos.

Its then I started to take more notice as to how the band came about - and it was purely by chance of a a few getting together in one of Dylan's studios where George Harrison was putting the finishing touches to a filler song for an album. Lo and behold perhaps the definitive supergroup. The music is very good, the guitar's especially so but Roy Orbison's voice singing Dylan's lyrics is memorable. Sad part is the Roy died during the making of the album but on the video  of  End of the Line they show a guitar in a rocking chair with a photo of Roy on the wall - very emotional.  Georges Harrison's guitar work is superb and hopefully ended all the hype about him not being good enough to play for the Beatles etc.

If you like good lyrical music, reminiscent of early rock with nice added touches well worth a listen and the DVD is a must for any fans of Dylan, Petty, Lynne, Harrison and for me especially The Big O. Nolic

I've enjoyed The Travelling Wilbury's for years.......I'm not really a Dylan fan, but I have always enjoyed George Harrison and Roy Orbison.  Sometimes we are surprised that certain icons know each other, but it seems normal to me, that they would socialise within their own professional circles.  I love it at the end of benefit concerts, when all the artists are on stage together, singing and playing the big finale.  (I was disappointed with the Diana concert, because it lacked this at the end. I hope it wasn't because "ego's" got in the way........who care's    at the end of the line   ).
