Moh, rump steak is the steak butchers take home for tea. Lots to be said for the other types of steak of course but a good piece of rump, cooked slowly is as good as it gets. Funny thing with beef is that apart from the classic sirloin, almost all the cuts follow the rule that the more you pay for it, the less taste it has. Think shin, oxtail and skirt. Lovely stuff and very few people know their meat well enough to ask for them.

For the first time in ages Barlick has let me down!

You can usually buy whatever you need here - though sometimes you might have to wait a few days while the shopkeeper gets it in for you. But on Saturday I hunted high and low for a bag of quinoa to use in a cashew and fresh coriander curry.

The Good Life was the obvious choice of supplier but they jokingly (or maybe not) said Barlick wasn't ready for it and if they bought in stocks then it would go out of date before it was all sold. The Co-op people looked totally blank as I explained what it was.

Never mind, the curry tasted good anyway. I love fresh coriander.

plus lots more info - good for migraines, cardiovascular stuff and  post menopausal symptoms, or so it's claimed. I just like the taste, as it makes a change from soya mince, which it resembles in the packet.

I see you are following Lord Chesterfield's dictum to his son. Much to be said for the hmble turnip.swede. Lamb chops de-fatted and seethed with a half cabbage, peas and mixed veg. I shall miss the yew-fed mutton when I finish it. Cheap, very fatty and requires careful cooking but lovely meat.

Call i love fresh Coriander too, was just looking at a rather alluring bunch in the little newly opened fruit and veg shop near me, but not for today..I also like Quinoa, esp in soup.
Tonight's meal, McSweens Haggis, neeps and tatties....ya beautie!

This was my favourite meal when I lived at home.  And what I cook up tonight won't be as good as my mum's.
