As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

Thanks for that Melanie. Of course I don't mind waiting and of course he should enter it in the compwtition and the very best of luck. Scanning by the framer sounds like a good option. Important we should have a good digital image and be sure I'll be spreading it round and singing his praises.

Belle, Edna Lumb knew what she was doing and it was her advice on buying original art. Connoir won't mind because he knows how important these things are. By the way Connor, Edna didn't do essays either.

As for the drawing, It looks perfect even on the screen, I'm certain I'm going to be delighted! But no rush, take your time.... (money is no problem, IMF have coughed already!)

Love the painting Conti, you clever, clever thing Smile

I think Stanley has the look in his eye's of an old soul, meaning he has been here before and is somewhat aware of why he came back.

Cathy, it's a remarkable drawing and I know what you mean.

I wonder if he still wears an ID tag on a string around his neck? Go on, Stanley, let us into the secret!

When I was a child I spent some time wearing a camphor block in a little bag hung from my neck. I think it was my Grandma's idea because I suffered a lot from coughs and whooping cough when about 3 years old. My parents had a difficult time getting me to wear it until they hit on the bright idea of making a similar bag on a string (but containg a Fox's Glacier Mint) and hung it around my teddy bear's neck. I'm glad they took the camphor option rather than rubbing goose grease into my chest or poor old teddy might have suffered the same fate!

Good one Tize.  Reminds me of having to 'line up' to receive a spoonful of malt our Grandma would give to us schoolchildren each morning, before heading off to school.  I'm sure it helped to keep us warm on the inside, if nothing else.  Still remember and like the smell.  Smile

(In Australia, as a child, I remember being given Milk of Magnesia often - not the same ... Yuk!!)

I still wear what is a modern version of the dog tag. It's what they call an SOS locket, recognised by hospitals and emergency services, it is a small metal container that holds a slip of paper that contains essential medical details, name address name of GP and flags up organ donation and the fact that an Advanced Directive is filed with my GP expressing preferences about what techniques should not be used to prolong life. A lot of people don't know that you can do this or that your GP has a sustem set up at the surgery to administer it. Look up Advanced Directive on the tinternetwebthingy and give it some thought. Could save your loved ones a lot of trouble. All my kids have a copy of it and it is legally binding on the hospitals. (All my kids have a copy of my will as well which I cleared with them before making it legal, amazing how many people shy away from doing this and leave chaos when they die.)

Do it today and make things easier all round!
