Marilyn-Wet on wet- You really have to use thick watercolourpaper, tube paint is slightly thicker, which i prefer, Wet the paper with a spongefor a large area say you were doing a small area check that a shine has then appeared and with a  fully loaded brush with the paint not too thin ,then just put the tip  of the brush into the wetness. The paint will float across on its own. Look  at the tube and it will tell you about whether its granulated colour which are good for wet in wet, all tubes and pigments have their different ways of performance.Ultramarine  is a good one for granulation, as an example. Keep your water clean , change after each colour you use.

Sue- Look out for these if you are in France- Louve  Paints- I had some given to me they are in tubesand are excellent bright colours with good granulation . I have looked on e-bay but havent seen any here. . The ulramarine beats any ive used for granulation !

I sometimes have blank moments, forget why I walked into a room, where I put something or to switch the kettle on and end up pouring a cold cup of coffee etc.  Sometimes at the shops I get dis-orientated, or have the feeling that I have to go home 'right now'.
Today I was making lunch and had 2 small bowls on my bench, our cat came into the kitchen asking for her lunch, so I gave it to her, coming back in and i couldn't find the bowl I had set aside for my lunch and searched thru each room retracing my steps (twice) ... I found it on the laundry floor with the cat's snack in it ... oh dear.

I like the story Cathy, very funny but...comforting too! We store a lot of stuff in the garage and I have a habit of going out there for something and coming back with something else. Sometimes I make three trips before I get the right thing. My theory is that the world is going too fast and making it difficult for people like us to function properly. If the world slowed down I would probably return from the garage with the right item...well, two of them maybe, but at least the right ones.

The garage analogy applies to old fashioned card indexes. It's serendipity and you don't gat it in computerised systems that only view one entry at a time. Wonderful what you trip over when you wander into the long grass.

With my daughter moving out on Friday, I'm living in a rubix cube at the moment ... where did all these boxes and bags come from? - come the weekend I will have empty spaces in almost every room, I'll even have a spare room.  Maybe I should take up ballroom dancing.

Oo lucky you Cathy..i can hardly wait to get more space...and before you all start I know, I know , you miss them when they're gone..but the extra room is great eh, and less washing and no one taking your last fiver, and no more teen soaps, and chance to actually get in the bathroom, and not having to shout "can you turn that down", no more having to pretend you just happened to be up for the loo when they come in at two? Happy days!

I hear you Belle, but I think after the first few days all that will wear off in my case.   The move was almost delayed for a week today after the bank made a 'fluff up'  - to put it mildly, but it is back on, everything will happen a few hours later than planned, that's all. It's a new era for both of us - wait until your last one leaves home ... Confused

Well my daughter has now been moved into her first home of her own, lots of fun and games due  to one helper not turning up (a male with much needed muscle and a large vehicle & trailer), oh, and a gas fitter taking about 3 1/2hrs to find a gas leak, and professional cleaners coming the day after??!  Oh dear.  What can you do?

Her house is a refurbished old home, a long way from nowhere (to me that is), but actually part of a new development surrounding her with all new 'green conscience' infrastructures in place.  It has great shopping, train station not too far, main highway close-by.  I'm sure she will be fine.

I've spent today cleaning my place and re-arranging things - the place positively echoed after all her stuff was removed -  no more being packed to the rafters.  And her cat (still with me for a week or so) has kept returning to sleep on the exact spot where my daughters bed used to be.  She is used to her Mum being away for a couple of days at a time, but a room without furniture is something else entirely for her.  I'm more or less fine - early days, hasn't hit me yet.      Cool

Cath, all these life changes are difficult but people have to move on and it's good to know your daughter is confident and independent. It shows what a good job you made of rearing her. Allow yourself credit for a job well done and work out what mischief you can get up to, we will all be cheering you on!
