As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

I never set a date Conor, just plug away at them. The journey is where the interest is, solving all the problems as they arise. Keep an eye on them, they will be quite nice! By the way, Crumblies like me have to keep going otherwise we sieze up!

I don't think it matters what medium you are working in when you have skill levels like yours. I can't imagine you doing anything sub-standard and experimantation will simply broaden your range and skills. I kn ow what you mean about the world interfering with the important stuff. Unfortunately you have to engage with them. I am lucky, I just ignore distractions and am very selfish. It helps progress!

hi,  yeah i had a brilliant day thanks, i went on a skid pan at castle combe race track for the day. it was brilliant and would love to do it again. Then i had a party

sorry ive not been in but im just so busy, ive got a alot of commissions to get done and some exciting stuff going on in the back ground (not getting too excited just in case it doesnt happen)

ive also started art collage, wasnt sure at first if i was going to like it, but i am, some great people in my group and enjoying the work although not what i like doing most, but enjoying learning new things, suprising how much ive taken to it, plus the collage is just a few miles from where i train at the sports uni, so its all working out at the moment.
car insurance is due again, along with the head ache of trying to find a decent quote. £1446. is the best price after at least 10 hours of searching!!! but better than the £2350 last year. BANG goes all my 18th birthday money plus.... gotta get drawing!!! :(

Glad you had a good birthday Conty, and that Art college is going well. Hope all those commissions will offset the car insurance!

thanks belle, i had nearly enough money for my birthday to cover my insurance as everyone gave me money. i only had one present for my birthday and that was a watch from my nan, and its really lovely.. im so pleased with it but its annoying having to give over all that money when theres so many things i would like to get :( thats life,, so im told.

although one good thing i dont need any art supplies just yet and when i do, i have £25 voucher and a £100 voucher from winning a competition so thats one thing i dont have to worry about :)

right im off to get some ink to get some printing done so i can get these commissions on the boards

The insurance charges are a bugger, especially when it's quite obvious that you are one of the healthier risks. One consolation  of getting older I suppose, the insurance goes down! Actually, from the general state of the car insurance market at the moment that sounds like a good deal.

I'm so glad you are seeing value in being at Art College. It was a big decision but it looks as though it is suiting you and not damaging your enthusiasm. All working out well. I'm off to an art exhibition in Bradford a week on Friday. Thanks to my mate Daniel, my digital film for him is being shown on the big screen at the Media Museum as part of a five month exhibition of his work. Mind you, the main reason I am looking forward to it is that I get to give Daniel's wife a full body contact hug!  I've been carrying a torch for her for a long time......

thats great theyre using your film!! and getting a hug :) go steady lad! :)

ive had a small op today, so im feeling pretty crap right now and im in pain, i look like ive had a stroke!! my face is swollen and bruised :( ive had a pesky lump removed that keeps coming up where i hold my pencil in my mouth, they are pretty confident is nothing serious but ive got to wait a few weeks for results. but the stitches inside my mouth are killing!!

i was going to enter another competition today, done most of the form only to find out if they sell the drawing (has to be available to sell) they take 35% plus VAT works out nearly half!!!! huu hummm i soon cancelled the application :0 shocked

If it had been the usual auction commission of about 15% plus VAT I could have understood it but it looks as though they have added 20% on top for themselves as well as the auction commission. Dead right, it's a scam.

By the way, can somebody please tell me...  is the VAT charged on the commision only or the total auction price?
