An amazing picture Maz. the colours and swooping clouds remind me of some of the artwork for science fiction books, and that reminds me of visiting Richard Bizley's shop and studio in Lyme Regis. He specialises in painting such pictures. Have a look at some of them on his web site here:
http://www.bizleyart.com/
Also, read his Biography page on that site - he's not your usual shopkeeper!

Bloky, love the oil painting a style reminiscent bygone days, and a lovely warm golden light.. Maz i thought your pic had been back lit it looked so light... I can put my attempt up now then, can't say I enjoyed tackling this, and i think it shows, i left the telegraph pole out and it looked worse so i put it in and it was squint...give me form to draw any day, all this airy fairy light stuff!

I think I like Belle's better than mine... I used pastels for the sky and acrylics for the foreground and tree. (Why did I put the pole in....mmmmm...thought about leaving it out, also thought about straightening it, but it seemed to be lacking something. ) Can we do something rural or coastal next? I have a couple of photos I took at Whitby (those little coloured beach huts) that I may post as possibles for contemplation. I need to find them and re-size them first, then I shall send them to Stanley later today. As I recall, it was a pretty miserable day and the tide was out.

Tizer...Thanks for the link...Bizley Art does have some lovely pics. (I don't think I could ever paint realistic waves...I think they would be very difficult indeed.)

Have just emailed Stanley three pics for consideration. One is taken looking across the Whitby harbour (and I am going to paint this one if it kills me) Another is of the beach huts at Whitby. The last is a rural scene that I snapped on a quiet drive around Pendle and surrounding areas. Tell me what you think...anyone interested in any of them?

T'would be the huts for me..don't like lots of green in a pic..(first one), and have too much other stuff on to paint whitby, though might do it later..what does anyone else think? I used pastels for my sunset as well Maz,but I think yours captures the light better.

Like the Whitby one, just up my street, but more than happy to have a go at the beach huts, not sure if my pallette will stand such bright colours though.....

I think I may have a go at the Whitby Harbour in an Impressionist style....which I have not done since High School. I recall we cut cardboard into various widths and painted with those. It was really good fun.
